Benson has the potential for sure but he's not on the same level as Rhino yet.

I don't think Reino thought he'd become a net front / slot guy on the power play in the NHL but when he was put there he had the hockey sense and skill and work ethic enough to become elite. No reason Benson can't do the same thing - he has a lot of the same qualities.

I'm getting Iafallo as the opposite winger with Cozens/Benson and sending Greenway to the 4th line. That will be your two way matchup line

in TOI its probably a top 6 forward because he likely gets PK time too.
Then you’re putting Quinn with Skinner and Krebs which seems like a waste of Quinn.

I’d probably put him with Krebs and Skinner, hoping he can calm things down, and keep the Quinn/Cozens/Benson line that worked well at the end of the season.

Shoulda got one game in
I want to believe he sees it but until he starts making those moves - UFA's, trades, draft picks, the works - I'm going to wait and see on this.

It’s funny because he was a player that had to scratch and claw his way to being an NHL player. And he was depth on the Carolina cup winning team. If anything he SHOULD know the value of those guys, just from experience.

I am hoping Skinner is gone and Krebs is the 13th forward or moved as well.

I'd just rather get a more productive guy for the top 6.

Laine seems like more of the same but also someone once rumored to be of interest to Adams going back a couple years. Heh. I wonder...
Does Jeff like Columbus? :sarcasm:

No argument from me. That's why every plan I have has him at 4C to start the year.
I think they will aquire a 4C and gift him the 3C, I hope I am wrong.
I think he needed more AHL time to develop his game.
I agree there is a lot of potential there, the question is, will he be better than a vet 3C or 4C and do take the risk of betting he will figure it out quickly enough.

Not sure if you need a certain size to be successful in this rather stationary battle

Glad someone agrees with me about Krebs. Skinner I give about 25% chance of a buyout or retention trade. Otherwise, he is here.

I think they'll acquire a 4C that starts as a 3C, in 15-20 games Krebs will take that spot on merit, and then you'll hear the Krebs fan narrative shift just like UPL, Mitts, Thompson before him.

You are way more optimistic about Krebs than I am at this point.

Not every player breaks out when given a chance to develop. I will not be surprised if Krebs never elevates his game to where people hope he would be.

But then some players do develop. A lot of us are curious to see what Krebs can be with another offseason and then with Ruff as his coach.

I get that.

I am not on the "You HAVE to trade Krebs" train. But, I am not optimistic that he will develop into a solid 3C for this team under Ruff, either.

Personally, I think he was rushed to the NHL and should have spent more time in the AHL. But, what is done is done.

Sure. There are a lot of things I like about Krebs and things I don't like. I'm sure he needed more development and I do think he was misused but there are things he does well and he's one of the few guys on the team with jam and he can be a pest. He has a lot of tools - and I think he puts in the work. Let's see what Ruff (and Appert) can do.

Depends on what kind of center Adams gets. If it's someone like Cirelli, then there probably won't be room for Krebs outside of 4C. But if it's a guy like Sissons, who can be a decent 3C or 4C if needed. Then Peyton will have a chance.

I am way more optimistic, because I know the player profile, and I wanted to draft him over Cozens in 2019 at pick 7. I have that same belief now that I did then.

Sure - or maybe they add two centers and Krebs gets moved to wing.

This is going to be a fascinating offseason. Crazy that the draft is two weeks from tomorrow and July 1 is just three days after.
