The change in his usage would suggest otherwise.

People need to let this Pionk is getting too many minutes theory die. Maybe he does from time to time, but he's more or less been demoted.

Let him play, he sucks right now and hes a decent bet to continue to suck, but in the short term that helps us and in the long term, maybe he figures some **** out and he turns into a player - that can't happen if he doesn't play.
This is true, last couple games he was in the bottom 3 for TOI for all dmen, and he's getting the least even strength minutes far and away compared to everyone else on the team. he does get a lot of penalty kill minutes, and I think the constant inclusion of him getting pushed up to the top line with Staal is because of the level of play that Staal has provided for a lot of the Dmen this year--ADA is thriving with him

honestly why are chytil and lias here why arent they in the ahl or some czech league or sweeden im not saying they are busts because its obviously way 2 early but neither are improving at anything how is this good for them?? are there examples of such young players struggling this much in the nhl actually turning it around and being productive nhl players??

Bo horvat for one. Someone I see Lias growing into as a player if we're lucky

Tis a strange time when scoreboard watching means wanting NJD/ANA/DAL to win, COL/EDM/CHI/BUF to keep afloat, and STL/MIN to lose so DAL can keep a spot and the only game that has no effect on us is PHI/PIT.

There are literally like 1,000's of examples of this happening. In fact, this is the case for almost every player who goes on to be successful outside of a few elite level guys (Crosby, Ovechkin, etc.).

I mean, just on our roster - Kreider and Zibanejad were first round picks that struggled not just for 1 year, but for a few, before settling into productive NHL players (of course I'm ignoring the outlier that was Kreider's playoff success).

You might not have patience with guys who are 19 and 20, but it is extremely rare for players to step into the NHL, especially at their respective ages and light it on fire.

Last night was the definition of jokers wild.

I'm here all week. Actually, every day.

Chytil it’s obvious he just needs to mature and get stronger and he’s going to be a player.

Lias well Lias is 20 from what I’ve been told.

Pionk is awful. Should not be in the nhl.

DeAngelo is becoming a stud future 50 plus pt dman before our very eyes.

Buchnevich is doing the opposite of what he did last year at this time. He’s taking the opportunity and flourishing. Really impressed by his overall game the last month or so. He’s a different player.

Vesey is what he is I don’t want him

Lemieux love him

Howden another guy I really like. I think he’s a 30 pt 3rd line center at worst.
Agree with most of this

Its about time that I feel like I am not the only one "hell bent" on throwing Marc under the bus. He has had a solid year. Out of all our D, he has been the one constant. Someone Hank relies on. Obviously NOT the fleetest afoot, but remember he has gone through hellish injuries, suffered and was buried here. He has risen, to the point of being a solid Veteran on a team that needs that "professional, steady attitude", you know......what Hank brings as well. Also remember he was beside, McD and Girardi in the school of "good defenseman" and gave our team a solid d-corps. We should all be a little more grateful, when he is gone......most will be happy, happy for the new toy and happy to find someone new to whip on.

We all KNOW how HF is......people love to ride certain players, while others get a free ride. Look at how Smith has been playing, and nary a good word about him. Yeah, I pretty recently said that I was "done with him", but at least I try and give credit where credit is due. He has been real good, and hope he gets reward with a goal or 2. Almost had one last night. Unfortunately, almost isn't good enough.

Okay, I will do some ripping. Ripping a certain someone that hasn't had nearly the ripping that Staal has gotten, and deserves it twice as much. Shittenhurts. Just about the whole year he has been horrific. I don't even know where to start, there are so many facets of his game that are "less than", and even if we understood that he wasnt good defensively (which most of us did), honestly.....he has been worse offensively (because of expectations) than he has been defensively.
I didn't want him from the getgo (discount or not), for me.....it was just another spot and money that could have been spent elsewhere. We wuz robbed! No wonder he gave us a discount. But......

Show me where there is a PERFECT defenseman, and I will paint you a blue sky, with you wearing rose colored glasses.

The echo chamber has become increasingly less correct, and the repercussions for being incorrect have decreased at an even faster rate.

You DO realize they dont go away, just bc we lost in regulation today, right?

I obviously went and looked at the standings since we lost a few in regulation, saw our position thanks to the loser points and expressed my frustration.
Yea I know. It was only a joke

It's not that he's not trying, it's that he is 6'2" and his stride is still awkward and not up to NHL speed just yet--give it time, he is only 19

He reads the game well. That’s the critical part (and, for my money, the key difference between him and Lias). Most of the physical skills can be taught or refined (see: Brian Boyle, skating; shooting and passing are even easier to work on)
