DeAngelo has been consistently good for most of the season. What just happened was a defensive mistake of his that led directly to a goal, which hasn’t happened in a while. And you basically say he sucks at defense. I think you’re the one that is reactionary. It’s obvious that you’re way too hard on him for some reason.

And I apologize for getting excited about a prospect with tons of upside who is developing right in front of everyone’s eyes and slowly putting it all together. How dare I.

I don’t like overhyping young players, but DeAngelo has actually been consistently good for a while now, unlike Chytil or Andersson.

This I actually agree with you. I agree with your opinion on Pionk as well. He’s gotten progressively worse and imo he’s hit his ceiling already with no more potential to grow. DeAngelo on the other hand is just starting to blossom and bloom. And I’m excited about that, it’s stupid arguments saying that DeAngelo is the best transition passer in the league that makes me laugh. See, we actually can agree on some things, nothing personal brotha.

I didn’t say he’s the best transition passer in the league, and if I did, I was joking. But you have to admit based on the eye test and advanced metrics that he’s very, very good at it. He may as well be one of the best, but I don’t know.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I like DeAngelo. I love his game. I want him to continue playing well. But then I see someone post some useless stat and claim he’s the best transition passer in the league and I roll my eyes and laugh.

Dismissing stats without offering a counter other than it’s a “useless stat” is, well, actually useless.
