I don’t understand why you and some others continue to downplay one of our most promising young defensemen we’ve had in a long time. That wasn’t even a huge mistake. Relax. I hate repeating this, but he’s still better defensively than every other d-man on this team. While creating the most offense. But apparently, that’s still not good enough for some Rangers fans. I understand if you think he’s overhyped, but saying he sucks at defense after that one play pisses me off. It’s horse****.

I just laugh when I see DeAngelo rack up a few nice games and get some assists and then I see he’s the greatest passer in the league at transition passes according to some pizza pie looking chart. It makes me laugh, and I guarantee you executives in the league would laugh too.

I was a huge Pionk fan, but the guy just sucks. I’ve defended him for a while, but he only got worse. He has potential, but he does a lot more bad than good. ADA also gets much heavier defensive deployment, so I can’t use that as an excuse for Pionk any longer.

That’s what it was thank you. He’s first in the league at transition passes but according to www.uselessstats.com DeAngelo ranks dead last at goalie crease denials.

He actually ranks 11th best among all dmen with at least 500 mins played this year in shot attempts allowed within a five foot radius of his own net. That doesn’t sound like someone who has trouble with “goalie crease denials”

You're talking to someone who is MUCH harder on the kids than ~almost anyone on the board, and you're being too hard on ADA. Even if the slobbering DOES gets a bit thick at times.

Pionk's been a dumpster fire for 30 games, ADA's been a borderline rock star. This place has huge recency bias. Relax a little more

Except what mandar said is based off one play, while that chart is based off 60-70 games. Do you know what sample size is?

Right, that's why there were numerous people saying ADA needed to be better in front of the net, because we just won't criticize him. If Pionk had any sort of positive impact he might not get criticized as much.

See...its a natural reaction I guess to balance out the overhyped, overblown analysis of a player who gets accolades like he is the second coming, yet hasn't proven a thing yet.....yes, he is displaying encouraging things, but when the sucking up becomes overwhelming, there will be a natural reaction to counterbalance that. Don't confuse this with people rooting for him to fail....those aren't real fans. We get charts of really ridiculous stuff, then it gets on the main boards, and we as a whole get branded as idiots. I know that doesn't matter, but every pass this guy makes seems like it should have angels singing.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I like DeAngelo. I love his game. I want him to continue playing well. But then I see someone post some useless stat and claim he’s the best transition passer in the league and I roll my eyes and laugh.
