It has to be man. Just has to be. There is no doubt who the second best player in this draft is. Probably the most ready player as well.I'm a huge JG fan so far, but this "interview" made me nauseous. I'm hoping it's smokescreens, but it should be an easy pick at #2.
Welcome back!!! I think you're right about Gorton doing the GM speak but every single new york paper should put pressure on him to draft Kakko lolComing out of self imposed retirement to say "holy f'n chit...so damn happy" as the hockey gods have shined on us as for first time since we drafted Brad friggen Park back in 1966, we will actually have a top 3 pick in the draft.
And for those of my paranoid Ranger brothers in here who are worried that Gorts won't draft Kakko due to the interview he did....relax. He was just doing GM speak. It's a 99.99999 % certainty we will have our first sniper since we had Mike Gartner 25 years ago. That's unless the Debbies throw a curve ball and take Kakko themselves and leave Hughes for us. Either way, we are golden. The rebuild is going just as planned and don't know about y'all but this time next year I fully expect us to be playoff bound as all is good here in Rangerland...![]()
Agreed! I guess because I only really liked EP/Heiskanen and knew they wouldn't drop to 7 in the 2017 draft this is many tiers above that in terms of excitement. This to me had Stepan game 7 ot winner level excitement. Just something we have never experienced as Ranger fans.I can’t really sleep. This is too good to be true, man. This is definitely up there with the Stepan trade and the Stepan game 7 OT goal as the happiest moments I’ve experienced as a Rangers fan.
Kakko>Svechnikov, right?Still can't fall asleep. Too pumped up. I thought Svech would have been a dream last year. This even more awesome

All around game I would say yes. Definitely close tho. Some say he could be a terrific center as well which I guess would put him even higher than Svech.Kakko>Svechnikov, right?
Larry Brooks already putting a little pressure on the Rangers brass to not go off the board![]()

I’m with you, man. Haven’t been this happy in a while. But for me, I wasn’t as excited about the #7 spot (which was still awesome) as I was about DeAngelo, who was my favorite prospect at the time.Agreed! No soft euro captains for me thanks. Good old North American boys with Intangibles only. Someone like Buchnevich. So, will Kakko be our captain in 3 years?

I just hope that if Kakko doesn’t hit 60 points next year, people don’t start giving him the bust label.I can't wait for the Lias - Kakko comparisons
Literally no one is going to do that. I sense some insecurity about other players, but LA’s point totals this year (which was his D+2 year) compared to 60 points for someone who just got drafted is a huge leap. Anything over 50 points for a player who just got drafted, and who can also play a 2-way game, is crazy good. I expect at least 35 points, and at most 50.I just hope that if Kakko doesn’t hit 60 points next year, people don’t start giving him the bust label.
Don’t know if you guys noticed, but apparently Hughes and Kakko are now just ordinary scrubs in a “bad” draft year.
Enjoy the salt from all the other fan bases. It really is delicious.
Cheers to the rivalry renewed.
When was the last time a 1-2 draft with players so close were drafted by rival teams? This has the potential to turn the rivalry up to 100 with Hughes and Kakko battling it out several times a season
Your being very optimistic here. You know how fans of this team are. Not everyone can think rational. Hopefully everyone can learn to become a little more patient and a little more optimistic. Your expectations are very reasonable as that's basically what I'm expecting too. I feel SOME may go off the rails if he doesn't come out of the gate at 30/30 as a Calder nominee.Literally no one is going to do that. Two years ago with Nico and Nolan lol
Though to be fair Hughes and Kakko are supposedly closer to Matthews and Laine then Nico and Nolan.
