I don't have an issue with Strome or Vladdy getting more minutes than Lias. I take more issue with Howden who I don't think has looked any more deserving of minutes than Lias has and yet he gets more minutes plus power play time. Howden is also a kid and is growing as a player but if this is going to be on merit then he hasn't earned his place in the lineup, he hasn't looked like a legit NHLer in months.

Can’t hurt to give Lias some of those PP2 minutes and some favorable usage. I think Lias has looked good defensively and had some good grinding shifts but he’s clearly focusing mainly on making the safe play and not making any mistakes. Give him a few games with Buch and tell him you want him to play more of a role offensively and actually give him a shot. Howden has gotten endless shots all season when his play really only merited it for the first few weeks of the season. He’s been objectively bad for months then gets hurt and comes back and he’s right back in at 3C with PP and even OT time.

Since Brett has been back from injury he has looked good

Lias has no confidence and of course his skating. He takes choppy strides needs to learn how to stride longer on the ice.

Lias looked like he had a couple good shifts tho. It’s an improvement over where he was. Small progress > no progress

I'll tell you if we could somehow get lucky for the first 2 picks, sign EK and Breadman along with our youth the rebuild is moving along.
 
I couldn't give a mickey mouse's rear end who is playing at this point. Just tank baby. Quinn is not even dressing a consistent lineup at this point. He's going with who he wants and we don't know what he's thinking.

We could go 0-11 and amazingly enough not drop lower than 4th. Actually I would put money on that. With the Rangers picking 4th, 5th or 6th probably won’t make much of a difference since we seem don’t seem to go the consensus route with our top 10 picks. I’m as happy as the next hopefully picking in the top 7 in this draft but unless we are targeting Byram would it make a difference if we are picking 4th or 6th? I think a balance of continuing to develop some of our young guys and finishing in the 5-6 range would be most beneficial. Oh and hope for the ping pong ball universe to be in our favor for a top 2 pick

Calgary is top of the league we are at the bottom, and it's been planned that way by dealing quality players for picks. We may compete in games but we wont win much with this roster. I'm good with it as long as the effort continues and the kids mature. I like the extra bite I'm seeing from Buchnevich, I like that Georgiev has shown to be a capable goalie, I like that Chytil seems to be getting better on the forecheck, I like that Zibanajad has taken a step. Mostly I like that we could potentially have 3 or 4 1st rounders this year. All things are going as planned imo.

Yes EK is a risk...couple things for exit strategy on EK

Cap going to 100 m
Buyouts in cba

We are so weak at RD need to bring from outside.
Instant D trade Brady for Trouba plus..sign EK..Right side ADA EK Trouba..use LD all youth.

That would for sure fix our biggest issue which is RHD.
How much would EK want in term especially?

Chytil has improved. Still has a ways to go. I think Strome continues to fit as a secondary support guy. Dont know the market there is for him, but he's due for a raise. Extend him? Vesey walk year too. Too frustrating with him. If he has a monster year, ppl will pin it on him needing a contract. Trade him. I can see Buch being solid next year.

I'd prefer Cozens but part of me feels they might take Podkolzin as he fits Quinn's style, not what I would want but he would be plug and play for Quinn

The trend in sports has been salary being restrained overall. Professional sports has finally realized aging athlete on long term high per year is not working.Of course there are crazy owners but if you could get him 6 years 7 million??

Will be interesting to see what he asks for . If he goes off in the playoffs and has and EK 2017 playoffs he probably asks for much much more than that.

He is gonna potentially be a top pairing guy but not sure generational. Is cozens or turcotte gonna be potentially generational? I guess our need for center gets prioritized over our need for another LHD

Just sounds like such a ‘Sather Era’ move to me. Both of the big fish.

Bread man I’m ok with - a lot of money but he’s worth that check.

The more and more I’ve thought about it this season, I’m starting to be more and more on board with the camp around here that wants us to hit that market the summer after the upcoming one.

I just think signing both of these guys to mega deals would be a mistake.

Hope we cop that top 2 though ...
