It was like going from an ember to an inferno

I’m trying to look over this game, and were there any good things? I mean I get it, 2nd best team in the league, but we stuck it out with Tampa till the end. This just was not a good game.

i dont mind losing, its a tank season. I just hate that our young players look like ****. What am I supposed to get excited for?
Just remember these young players aren't finished products, they're going to get better. Plus there have been some younger players who've impressed:

Tony D has been the best D on the team. Buchnevich is finally putting it together and looking like a legit top 6 winger. Mika has cemented himself as a 1C. Georgie has looked pretty good. Hajek looked good in his short stint, Chytil has his flashes and is still only 19.

Judging anyone on this tire fire of a team based on boxscore stats, let alone +/- , is just not going to tell the whole story at this point. Especially not for a 20 year old in his 30 something career game.
Notice how he didnt mention Fast who played a minuet more and was also a -3. Hmmm almost like he has a bias against Lias or something

This post is my feelings on this season in a nutshell.

Besides DeAngelo, who I had zero expectations for.

Well Pionk scored the lone tally, so that gives him the night off as the bane of the organization.
Well Kov has been ****ing on Lias basically since we got him so its hardly a suprised. The whole team sucked tonight and Lias wasn’t great but he had a few nice moments

Such a young roster though. Part of the challenge is predictions of 3o points and more from kids who would normally be playing junior hockey right about now. It sets these kids up for disappointment a lot of times.

In some ways it’s no surprise ADA is the standout, he’s 23.

Hajek looked really good in his short stint and Buchnevich has looked good as well. I think Howden, Anderson, and Chytil will all be quality NHL'ers too. You can't really expect guys who are 19 or 20 to be finished products. I really think the marathon NHL season has taken it's toll on Chytil in particular. He showed a lot of good things this year.

The only guys from the 2017 draft who are making real impacts on teams currently are the top 5 picks. Outside of that are players going thru going pains in the NHL or are playing in the AHL or a lower league. People need a bit of patience with our guys

I'm not sure I can handle watching this present Ranger team against the Wild. I guess it may help me sleep.

Wasn't much at all to take out of that game. I though Smith was ok, in that I didn't really notice him or Shattenkirk all night. All in all, everyone was just 'there'...

I don't want to harp on Lias' ice-time because I get that he's not really deserving of all that much more; but when you're already down 3-1 and can hardly muster a shot on goal, what's the damage in giving him a shift here or there in the top 6, or on PP 2 and seeing how he looks? I'm not saying staple him to Mika's hip and play him 17-20 mins, but what is there to lose in seeing what he looks like playing with more dynamic talent?

See Lias Andersson had a stellar -3 in only 10:31 of ice time. That hard to do.

Fast was close behind this morning with -3 as well. I can`t comment on it, because I woke up in the 3rd period, so I did not see the full game. :)

Anyway Quinn`s thoughts about the loss this morning.

He would have if he was a throw the lines in a blender coach, but he's not.
He's an earn your spot coach. Strome's earned his more than Lias so he plays where he does and Lias plays where he does.

The counter to this is 4 more random minutes on a random Friday on March doesn't help Lias at all and might hurt the culture. The culture change has been the biggest development of the season IMO. I'm with the coach on this.

I also think Lias will start to get a lot of burn starting tomorrow night.

Agreed he had a great penalty kill this game holding the puck along the wall behind Calgary’s net for a long stretch of time. Gotta focus on the positives.

I really feel bad for David Quinn. I know he really wants to get this team doing respectable things and being that it's his first go at the NHL, I'm sure he wants to succeed. At the same time, he surely has an understanding that this team is not equipped to succeed and that's not what he's here to do this year.

It takes a lot of guts to not check out on this group and I hope that rubs off on them.
