What drives me batty is the circling in own zone, absolutely NO urgency.......waiting and waiting for linemates to proceed together to do nothing but lose the puck or dump it in. Why not dump it in immediately (eliminate the circling) and get the dang puck yourself and let the others enter zone behind you?
I know its a timing thing, but they consistently waste 20 secs. Then a failed dump in and before u know it a minute is gone.
I think the problem is the lack of movement by the man in the high slot...

That person can pull defenders and open passing/shooting lanes...

but overall theres a lack of movement. If anyone should be stationary its Zibanejad on the half wall

Maybe Quinn expect more from his players @Tob - at least he did not blame the refs for the loss tonight. And there are some part of Rangers game they need to improve on for sure, and I think about the next season already in October.

Personally I hope we will see some changes in the coaching staff over the summer, and Quinn is doing a good job so far.
Blaming the refs postgame, does absolutely NOTHING for the good of the team (coming from the coach). All that will lead to is a bunch of players following coach's lead, that soon becomes a bunch of whiny baby players. Okay the reffing sucked. Suck it up, oh and btw.......we sucked as well.
They can clamour amongst themselves, because after all they KNOW they got hosed and were up against it all night......but like Quinn said......had they done what they "needed to do" they could have overcome it. That is what a really good team would have done. They would have unified, instead of crying. And, I am not suggesting they did.......my point was it can't come from Quinn, and shouldn't exonerate them from their lousy PP's.

Kreider coming up with new and different ways to "disappear" from games.
I think Kreids was seriously affected by Hayes and Zuccha's departure. For obvious reasons on the ice.....but just remember, theyve been together for quite some time now. No excuses, but everyone reacts differently. Some are more sensitive to things like that. Is Kreids a Pisces by any chance? The closeness you sometimes feel with certain people. Hey, look at Hank's reaction on camera. That wasn't acting, I assure you. Not that he WANTED to be caught like that. Wouldn't think so, anyway.

Looks like this western Canada trip is going to be much more beneficial than last year’s trip.
Thank goodness for that. Last years trip, ruined us. We had no business winning ALL 3 of those games. Calgary is going to have a field day.....then again, this team has surprised me every time....I thought the tank was rolling us over, cannons ablazing.

Lias had 9 minuets despite the fact we lost 2 forwards? Is Quinn ever gonna give him an opportunity to do something???

Vicious assault by Lummox. Expect a call from the league? Yea, no. How bout the local authorities? He better pray that the Canucks don't press charges. My heart goes out to the victim of that heinous attack as well as his family.

Hug your loved ones, folks. You don't realize how easily some animal can alter the course of your life by standing practically still while you trip and fall into them

Truly a black eye for the league and a dark day for organized hockey in general.

Kudos to the zebras for spotting an out of control, unhinged predator and getting him the hell out of there before he sneezed in someone's general vicinity next

The following is an actual excerpt from a tsn.ca article about roussel:

Roussel injured his knee on a play where he falling while simultaneously being hit from behind by Rangers forward Brendan Lemieux.

I don't think Roussel screws up his knee if Lemieux isn't there, but that's still not a penalty. The fact that they listed it as headbutting makes evident the refs didn't see what happened.

I mean the guy is cutting across the middle of the ice in front of the other teams net while falling. Should the Rangers or any team get out a pillow to catch his fall? Hitting is still allowed is it not?

Some people said it's because he butt ended Roussell? I can't see how you can tell if he did that or even if his stick did hit Roussell, that it was possibly on purpose considering the speed of the play. Lemieux's reaction seems to be to bring his arm into his body to brace himself for the impact, not to throw any particular kind of dirty hit.

I'm sure Lemieux will do plenty of dirty stuff and throw some questionable hits at times and I'm not going to defend him on those, but I don't see it on this particular incident.

Re: Kreider's hit...man I see guys do that move all the damn time. Go in for a goofy hit where they kind of end up turning and hitting with their butt/back, and throw their arms out to the side both to kind of brace and probably to get a little extra piece of the guy they're hitting. I don't see any intent there but he did catch the guy in the head and it can be considered careless so some kind of penalty there is warranted

Yes that gif sums it up Rangers chasing a 3 - nothing lead with two 5 minutes major penalties. Buch barely got a PP goal, and no surprise DeAngelo with another assist and I`ve a notion he will be used in a rotation in near future. :)
And Nucks scored an empty netter, and I thought Henrik had actually a good game last morning.

So you don't think point shaving is feasible or realistic? Serious question. I think we agree it's doable in basketball. How about hockey?

I honestly think that from an officiating perspective, it would be nearly impossible. If you look at most games, the Refs basically balance out the calls on the two teams throughout the game. The penalties are about even. Furthermore, as evident from last night, even when the Rangers got a 5 on 3 they could not score so it seems impossible to me that the refs could even know that calling a penalty would lead to a goal. Even the best power plays only score like 30% of the time when a penalty is called.

THAT'S A MATCH PENALTY!?!

You guys are wrong. Match penalties are not judgement based. The rule book for the NHL clearly says,( rule 58.4) "A match penalty shall be imposed on a player or goalkeeper who injures an opponent as a result of a butt-end." So if the Refs decided this was a butt-end and the player was injured, they must give this penalty. No judgement here-- it' a rule book penalty!
