A lot of these guys just do what they want.

Even Alex Ovechkin grinded the boards and laid hits when he got paired with Jay f'n Beagle a couple years ago for a bunch of games but a lot of our guys are just too pretty to do anything like that. It's why I'm down on most of the roster beyond the obvious. Bigtime leadership issue.
That's true. It's been a yearslong issue of being too fancy, instead of straightforward north-south

You may be overthinking this a bit
Yeah......but when he has had Pionk/Staal as a mainstay pairing......then there has to be a reason he has subplanted Pionk with Tony. Or, am I just super hopeful that Tony might get some solid playing time and a legit chance at proving himself worthy by putting him with Marc?

He may not be getting power play time, but he’s getting a lot of time in the top 6. He doesn’t deserve to play there, but I get that we don’t have many other options. Also, 35 points, with scoring going up, is like a mediocre to average 3rd liner. And he’s doing this while playing in the top 6 for most of the season. Not good. Also, I doubt he hits that many points. He hasn’t ever hit that many in his career, right?
33 in 71 last season

Quoting myself.....look at what may becoming a great aquisition of a player that seems to have turned a major corner in which many teams have given up on. That would be Strome.
Imagine Strome does become a good 2nd liner lmao that will make it 3 out of 3 awful trades for Chiarelli with the NY/NJ teams.

Vally was right. A lot of two-fers for them on each shift. Can't get the puck out, it only goes as far as the point and then they resume their forecheck

Kreider loves scoring against Tortorella. Nieves has played pretty well for us. Chytil's got some confidence too.

We pretty much sucked though. Hated the call on Fast. That's got to happen about 2000 times a period.

He's hit 30 and 33 in 71.

He ranks higher in p/60 than he does in raw points, so "he plays a lot of minutes" doesn't really apply.

Nieves hasn't really done much most of the season, albeit on the 4th line, but you put him with good players and he shows a little something.

You put other 4th liners with good players and the good players take up drinking.

It could be that, or it could be that ADA’s breakout passes keep the pair from being hemmed in their own zone. In other words, a d-man like Staal can defend, but he needs someone who is good at moving the puck out of the zone. Because Staal definitely can’t do it himself, and Pionk has been struggling with breakout passes.
Thanks, what i was alluding to......you said it better though. Lol.
