Tbh, Malhotra played 16 seasons.

I would take that from Lias at this point.
He'll be fine, but he's pretty clearly overwhelmed in ~every aspect right now. Playing like he's hurt too. Nothing wrong with keeping your mouth shut collecting NHL checks at the end of a lost season.

I mean, the guy is comparing Chytil to David Pastrnak. One of the best players in the league, as you know. I know Chytil seems like a boom or bust prospect, but I don’t think Pastrnak had such obvious issues with puck control and hockey IQ. Maybe Chytil fixes those, maybe not. But I think our expectations are too high. If anyone ever comes close to Pastrnak level, it will probably be K’Andre, in my opinion. But he’s a defenseman, so that comparison isn’t great.
Again its not like Pastrnak came in as one of the best players in the league. His first two seasons weren't exactly great by any standards and as he learned he got better. He also had flaws, if he didnt he woulda scored a lot more. I'm not saying Chytil will become that good but he at least has a chance to be a similar level of a player.

It definitely is more impressive but I think writing off that Chytil can reach similar (not as good) levels to Pasta is silly
You may as well be saying that it’s dumb to write off Strome becoming the next Bergeron. Anything’s possible, but come on now.

The Rangers have had pretty bad luck in the sense that their highest picks in team history have come in awful drafts. Throw Lias into that group so far.

2019 should be an outstanding draft.

Hopefully he'll learn, but I'd like to see more life out of him, you just lost the game and is being bullied, somebody hit you you hit him back, high school type of lesson.

When you have a bigger, stronger guy pinning you against the glass you don't have many options of where to go. They both had their arms up but Backes is a big, strong 30 something year old. Lias hasn't hit drinking age. Lias had numerous guys wanting to take shots at him at that point. He doesn't know where shit is coming from next and if you think this has ever happened to him before in Sweden or in the AHL---I don't think so. There's a psychology to all this and the coaching staff and a few of his teammates can help him with that. Not sure who was out on the ice with him other than Pionk and Gilmour both smaller guys but it seemed to me that Backes saw him and knew exactly what he wanted to do. It was a bit like a mugging and in muggings the victim is almost always on the defensive.

But also at the end of the day there's no real damage done. Bergeron's not hurt and neither is Lias apart from maybe his feelings. He should take this experience back with him to Sweden this summer and make it into a learning moment. On the Rangers part--this team has spirit but it's way over its head as far as being able to physically defend itself against teams like Boston, Washington or Winnipeg and there's a few others but also not having a real strong veteran core doesn't help. They've fought back a lot this year and I think Quinn wants a nastier and meaner team. Lemieux should be part of that but only part. We need guys who can play and who play in the trenches. That's one reason I liked McQuaid--other teams know he is legit tough---but we had to move him.

I watched it again and Backes did practically nothing to Andersson. Jostled him back and forth a few times to let him know to stay away from his #1C. To call those crosschecks is only true in the most literal sense of the word. A 10 year old could have absorbed those shots without a bruise.

That was as gentle of a message as could be delivered.

On the close up replay you can see him wailing on Lias' helmetless head. Did any land? Hard to say. The crew calling him a "standup guy" while it was ongoing was amusing though.

I think we can all agree that Milbury is a dildo, but I’ve said this before: if this team is going to legitimately compete for a Cup on their current path, I don’t think it happens unless they develop a center good enough to push Mika down to the 2nd line.
