I know were supposed to also hate the leafs but I really hope they desomate the Bruins
They actually might. Lead facing a little heat now is good for them. Assuming they bunch up instead of falling to pieces. The bruins today looked very fragile mentally. They got upset so many times. Very thin skinned. No idea if this was just an anomaly but despite being through in the end they didn't look very good. One line will be stoppable in the playoffs.

When you have a bigger, stronger guy pinning you against the glass you don't have many options of where to go. They both had their arms up but Backes is a big, strong 30 something year old. Lias hasn't hit drinking age. Lias had numerous guys wanting to take shots at him at that point. He doesn't know where **** is coming from next and if you think this has ever happened to him before in Sweden or in the AHL---I don't think so. There's a psychology to all this and the coaching staff and a few of his teammates can help him with that. Not sure who was out on the ice with him other than Pionk and Gilmour both smaller guys but it seemed to me that Backes saw him and knew exactly what he wanted to do. It was a bit like a mugging and in muggings the victim is almost always on the defensive.

But also at the end of the day there's no real damage done. Bergeron's not hurt and neither is Lias apart from maybe his feelings. He should take this experience back with him to Sweden this summer and make it into a learning moment. On the Rangers part--this team has spirit but it's way over its head as far as being able to physically defend itself against teams like Boston, Washington or Winnipeg and there's a few others but also not having a real strong veteran core doesn't help. They've fought back a lot this year and I think Quinn wants a nastier and meaner team. Lemieux should be part of that but only part. We need guys who can play and who play in the trenches. That's one reason I liked McQuaid--other teams know he is legit tough---but we had to move him.
I'd love the Rangers to bring back McQuaid, were there room for him. Don't think there's going to be room, unfortunately.

I actually think Jeff need to buy a defender this summer window - we don`t have enough talents in the system to solve the issue. And maybe consider a new defense coach.

Once he does, just needs to buy offense and toughness and maybe we'll compete.

That was an awful game the moment they dropped the puck. The freaking camera guy was practically on the moon and we had to listen to Mike Freaking Milbury for a whole game? We should get a supplemental pick for going through that. I'm surprised they didn't let Jack Wagon Edwards take the mic for a spin on the big stage. Horrible. That said, this was a big game for the lotto lovers.

Another fine example of “rebuild” hockey! Honestly, at this point, this is pathetic. The players on this team consistently find ways to embarrass themselves. For Example:

1. Lias’ entire display for the entire season but especially tonight( at least he was noticeable!)
2. Lemuiex challenging Chara to a fight
3.Hank acting like a petulant child after giving up goals— I love Hank by the way—
4. Several players literally disappearing during this stretch run when they should be giving it their best to make the roster for next year,
5. The organization being so devoid of forward talent that we have Brendan Smith playing consecutive games.
6. The “too many men on the ice” epedemic that occurs nearly every game.

It’s just no where near good enough! Aside from Mika who is and has been tremendous, and occasional bursts of good from Tony and Chytil, and the consistent effort from Strome there is literally nothing on this roster that makes me excited for next year. Maybe some of the guys not yet here will amount to something, but for the most part- I hope garbage pickup day occurs sometime before the start of next year and most of this roster is sent to the dump where they belong.

Meh, I think that type of thinking is based on what Mika used to be. The guy has evolved. He’s a legit top line center, most likely will finish with 75 points or so.

He’s more than good enough to be the top center on a contender.

I assure you that’s not my thinking. Mika is having an amazing year. He’s definitely a more legit 1C than Stephan ever was. That said, he’s still “only” 22nd amongst centers on scoring (38th among all forwards).

He’s great, I agree, and better than what we’re used to. But I still think we need a truly elite anchor to the offense.

We have five games left and we would be lucky to go 2-3. Second to last game is against Columbus. If we could be the nail that locks Torts out of the playoffs after they went all in, I will not consider this season a total loss. I hate that guy. But we'll probably take at least half of these games to OT.

I like JD too much to wish for that. I'd rather CBJ than the Habs and the how far will CP take us storyline.

If looking back to all the crap being spewd on Zibanejad in his first years i would not value the crap about Lias. Trade him to LA Kings , he would thrive there.

I think we also have to provide some content there. A while back we looked at the top scorers in the league and found that a good chunk of the top 20 and top 30 played for like 3 teams. So there’s a lot of stacking out there. And that doesn’t take into account that some of those teams also had elite talent that weren’t among the top scorers because of time missed due to injury. So in those cases, when they came back into their respective lineups, the rich got richer.

In that same vein, we also have to take into account who Zibanejad actually is playing with, including his useage on bottom lines and other scenarios.

You put Zibanejad on Tampa, Toronto, Winnipeg, etc. and you quite possibly have guy with more than 90 points this season.

Stop. Please. Tampa does not need another elite player on their team.

Jesus dude.... And I thought I was bummer. What the hell do you expect a rebuilding team to look like? This game probably would have been very different if we had Zucc, Hayes and Kreider in the lineup and weren't battling for a top 5 pick. It's been a long season and the guys are frustrated.... that's how it goes.

Additionally, there isn't anyone really battling it out for a roster spot next season except maybe Andersson. And that happens during camp, so not sure what that comment is all about.

So by your line of thinking, the fan base should be ok with this young group that is supposedly going to be our next in line just rolling over! I can’t read that this season has been frustrating so let’s just give them a pass. I’d agree with you if we had a veteran team who’s been around the block for years but that same mentality does not fly with me when we have a roster filled with players who should be trying to make a name for themselves. These guys should hungry trying to prove their worth— not happily playing poorly this proving their worth in the negative.

This idea that none of these guys are going to be around next year is also insane. While I’d love an entirely new roster save for a few, many of these guys will be battling it out for an NHL roster spot. Simple as that— Vesey, Names, Fast,, Skjei, Smith, fit into a puzzle somewhere and it would be nice if these guys showed something down the stretch( I know Fast is hurt.)

Now to be fair, this team has shown heart all year. I credit Quinn with that. I think what we are all witenessing here( and seems to be creeping into the mindset of a few posters here) is exactly a losing mentality( its been a tough year and losing hurts so it’s ok to just keep losing.) I’m glad the coach seems to be railing against this. It’s unfortunate a lot of the players can’t or won’t live up to his standard!

JHS isn’t going to make it through next year.

Hahahahaha- no I will. I love this team( like we all do!). I just want them to show me something more.

The only good part of this rebuild is, I’ve actually been to the most Rangers games at MSG this year— lower ticket prices are a wonderful thing.
