This is the offense KP built with Canada

Nah, it’s the offense Canada built with his schematics based around what Tomlin supposedly wants.

KP has some (limited) input into the plays he likes and doesn’t.

That is a massive difference from acting like he and Canada sat down and created a whole new offense together.

JT was on the verge of a meltdown at the beginning and end of the video with Canada’s schemes, so take it up with him if you disagree.

Yeah, Canada has already taken 2 steps back from this offense and threw out the "I just do what I'm told" line.

Yeah, and probably true. Ike Taylor was on theFAN the other day, gushing on Tomlin. Basically saying that Coach T is the smartest man he is ever been around in football. And that "he absolutely has his hand in every single aspect of the game". Sounded like a micromanager at least, and a total control freak at most.

That's pretty well documented at this point. And when Tomlin started squeezing out Cowher's staff, the team hasn't won since. As I have said, Tomlin is a fine head coach, but this team would be so much better if they went out and brought in some legit coordinators.

I’m not really trying to defend Canada because I think he’s pretty much awful and I don’t have high hopes that much will change, but that video is a little weird to me. It’s one drive in the first preseason game where Pickett said they were running super vanilla stuff designed to get different people touches.

The concepts that O’Sullivan hates on are also super common across the NFL.

Pretty sure it’s going to be Purdy in the opener after Lance had a forgettable game agt the Raiders.

If the team disappoints this year, you’ll see a major coaching staff shakeup that will possibly involve Tomlin.

But I think they‘re going to have a great year.

Pierre had a really rough outing. Hope he plays more so they can see what he can and cannot do because Fri night was not good for him.

Anything less than a play off win is a disappointment but Tomlin isn’t going anywhere. Austin is not going anywhere

Man, I don't ever see this front office firing Tomlin. I am cautiously optimistic. I think they may lose some games they should win just on inexperience, but I think this is the most complete team we have had in years.

I don't ever remember rookies coming in and dominating like Herbig and Benton did on Friday. You never would have known they were rookies. Jones looked great. Austin looked great. It really is one of the best draft classes we have had in probably 20 years.

Yeah, this feels like a lame duck year for Canada barring the offense playing above their heads at like a top 10 ppg rate. Then we'll hire Pitt's offensive coordinator or some shit.

That's the thing with this coaching staff...even if Canada sucks, we aren't getting some stud offensive coordinator after that. It will be another puppet. Whether it is Canada or Joe Schmoe, it's always Tomlin.

Yeah, they aren't going to fire Tomlin, but it is a little bit curious why they haven't re-upped him yet. Small step in the right direction?

Maybe after the next batch of coordinators fail, too, they'll change their tune to "We'll see how things go with the new coordinators".
Then they'll have to see how the next next batch does when they decide it's not the coaches, it's that Pickett wasn't actually a franchise QB.
Then maybe they'll put him on final warning.
Then final-final warning.
And then "OK, you can still be head coach, but we're going to pick the coordinators".
And then "Sorry, we made a mistake, you can pick your coordinators again."
And then back on final-final warning.
And then Tomlin will be 80 years old and just retire.

While true, I feel like we’ve had decidedly different offenses over the years, all while Tomlin has been here. Though I’m going to say that was more Ben’s doing as he evolved.

I again don’t think Tomlin is a stupid guy, so I highly suspect he’s going to let KP sling the rock and be the man.

Not 40x a game, because that’s a losing formula for almost any team, but I think he’s going to open up this offense.

This old school 3 yards and a cloud of dust shit they have been pimping all off-season is likely a smoke screen.

This team has a lot of talent that lends itself to scoring points, and that’s how you win in the modern NFL.

I just can’t convince myself Tomlin is too stupid to understand this.

It's the most under- talked about subject regarding the team over the last decade. Bad drafting, led to overpaying vets on 3rd deals. Toss in Ben as one of the highest paid QB's and very inconsistent play... it was a recipe for disaster. This is why I'm giving Mikey T a second chance this season. For the first time since 08-10, he has quality depth. I also give him a lot of slack in regards to his handling of Ben. He was a very young coach coming in to a Franchise where the QB had already won a SB. Very tough for him to play the heavy in that scenario. The best thing for the franchise would have had Cowher staying for at least 10 years of Ben's career or them hiring veteran coach with gravitas, which I don't think they would ever do.

Mike now has his "QB". He can dictate to KP and KP will listen, unlike Ben. Let's wait and see what happens. But so far, I'm EXCITED>

Have heard that the theory of Tomlin being a great players coach but a mediocre tactician is simply the truth.

He relates very well to players and they listen to his message. His offensive philosophy is just outdated and he hasn’t hired good coordinators. Players very unimpressed by Canada.

I think Tomlin is willing to open up the offence as his trust in Pickett grows.

But I think he's going to wait to see Pickett do things, rather than trusting Pickett and opening it up before of time to make it easier for Pickett to do things.

Won't pretend I truly know which way round makes more sense. Like I have my biases, but I ain't even remotely an expert on QB development.

But did that have to do with Tomlin or Ben. The difference between BA and Haley was minimal, IMO. Fichtner was just kind of an extension of Haley with a declining Ben. This is the first time Tomlin has had a different QB, so I guess we'll see. Canada taking steps back this offseason by saying "I just do what I'm told" after we all were fed the bullshit that CANADA'S OFFENSE needed 3 years to implement. It's all very catawampus to me. I get keeping Canada just for the sake of KP having continuity from year to year.

I'm excited too, and I do agree with overpaying guys, but I'm not a believer of this offense. I'm cautiously optimistic. This offense and defense should be top 10. No excuses, in my opinion.
