The reality is that Mark Madden is a Pittsburgh sports fan and his entire credibility is "he has a sports radio show". He has no credibility at evaluating any sort of football player beyond anyone in this thread. I might give him some credibility boost for evaluating hockey players, but even that is marginal.

I'm not saying this to say that he's wrong, I'm saying this to mean I'm not taking his opinion to be worth anything. The only opinions of his I'd take seriously is his opinion for the best strip clubs in Pittsburgh, because that's about all of the credibility he has to make claims on.

Ben was a dramatically more efficient passer in his last year than Pickett ever has been. He was also totally immobile and his shoulder was shot.

He had 5 multi-td pass games in 2021. Pickett is still sitting on 1.

Yes, Canada is as incompetent as it gets, but Kenny is not as good as a washed Ben, and you are really reaching if you are confident in Pickett's development at this point.

Uh okay? The point I was making is that the team had the same problems in Ben’s last season as the team has today. Ben being better than Pickett isn’t relevant to that.

The team has nearly the same exact issues today that it has 3 years ago. Saying it’s mostly Pickett ignores that these issues were the same issues under a HOF QB in his last year. Hell, these issues were the same under Trubisky as well.

I have been saying this for months now in this thread. Anyone scapegoating any one player or coach on this team for the offense is completely out to lunch. It’s shit all around, to the point it should be completely rebuilt. It is shit all around and has been shit all around since at least Ben’s last year. Honestly, I’d even extend it to the year before as well.

It's honestly this, when it comes to Kenny at least. The few times I've tuned in, anytime someone calls his show to argue with him over Kenny he ramps up the hyperbole to bait the rubes who call that think it's a valuable use of their time. The "Kenny, Kenny, Kenny!" act is just that, an act, yet it works somehow.

It's just hilarious at this point to watch the replays of other games and see even the worst teams led by inexperienced qb's connecting on 50 yd bombs for td's week in and week out, and simultaneously wonder how it's possible for the Steelers to make it look so hard to do as often as they do.

Being shitty on offense cost them the game and he’s a big part of the issue.

14 targets and avg 10 YPC as usual. He gets force fed the ball and rarely turns in any explosive plays, is unreliable as hell, etc

They really need to move on from him and find a legit X to run the offense through.

Brock Purdy is killing the Steelers. Destroyed them, and played the worst 2 games in his career against the Browns and Bengals. His 2nd INT leads to a Burrow TD that basically ices the game for Cincy.

Myles Garrett with a huge sack on Geno Smith, and they’re punting down 3 late. The hiring of Jim Schwartz was brilliant. Tomlin would never hire someone smarter than him like Schwartz.

I don't hate Madden for what he is, I think he's actually really successful to differentiate himself from the other radio show hosts in Pittsburgh and he clearly has built something. I just roll my eyes when people say "he has a successful show, so he knows what he's talking about". No, he has a successful show because people find it entertaining. Madden is an entertainer that happens to have a successful show about sports, that doesn't make his opinion on sports worth more.

Modern sports journalism does not reward people who understand the sport, it rewards the hot take show hosts that stir up drama. Madden is excellent at that, hence why he's at where he's at. But his sports knowledge is no better than any other random Yinzer super fan, and the fact he has a radio show doesn't change that.

The *TWO* supposedly shitty OL are now great with other coaches. I'm sure their are some pumpkins but I don't think we can trust half this staff to make a coaching adjustment or personnel evaluations. They have been wrong for years now....

Radio is a dying media, and iHeart, who's seems to always be purging talent to save money isn't paying anyone on the eight rated station in the 35th market or whatever in the country anywhere near 1/3 of a million 'cause there's no way they can bill enough to cover that salary plus everything else. Madden is good at what he does, but better rated air talent has been fired by iHeart because of money.
