"The early portions of the game doesn't determine the outcome of the game" Tomlin just now, he truly doesn't care that his team can't execute a professional offensive gameplan until the second half of games.

The only reason that quote can even be considered somewhat accurate is because most teams on the schedule are as bad as the Steelers, but why even try to justify how bad your offense is? If they played Kansas City today this game WOULD have been over by the half.

It's uncanny how stuck in the past this guy is, and with seemingly no hint of shame about it.

That quote by Tomlin is shocking. F'ng shocking............. this franchise is doomed

Mike Tomlin: "We've just got to execute better at the early portion of games, obviously." HC Obviously

It’s been a massive, historical type problem since 2021.

I’m pretty sure if Tomlin and Canada were actually capable of solving the issue it would have been done like uh - a year or two ago.

The rope a dope doesn’t work if KP is hurt and he’s not going to pull that shit off every week anyway.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy watching it blow up in Tomlin’s face today, because I do.

Pickens has raw size/athleticism that Brown will never have, but Brown was one of the greatest WRs to ever play.

You could make the argument that 25-30% of receivers at any given time had better physical attributes than Brown but he was always in the top 5 best receivers. He's the best Steeler offensive player of my lifetime. Maybe ever.

Without question. And I think Pickens has that ability if he had someone to get him the ball. He is one of the most naturally talented WRs I have seen.
Browns footwork was what made him so great. Pickens is not the technician that Brown probably was, but for Brown, that also came with time. I'm not even sure guys like Calvin Johnson or Randy Moss made the level of acrobatic catches that Pickens has made in a year and a half, but with that being said, they didn't have to because they would just smoke DBs. Pickens doesn't have that long strider speed like they did.

I'm a fan of Khan. I will think Khan is the GM of this team for the next 30 years if he gets AR2 to not re-sign Tomlin at the end of the year, because that's exactly what needs to happen.

I love how the 49ers suddenly suck against the other AFC north teams.

Ravens will win.
Browns are coming on strong and honestly probably better off with PJ Walker than DeShaun Watson.

I'm not even sure that this offense is even decent with a different coordinator. There were plenty of failed executions in the first quarter that could have kept the defense off the field for a little bit longer. Pickens being under thrown while he was wide open and DJ with his unfortunately predictable drop.

Canada has shown he is very bad but the offensive unit is not helping themselves. Even with poor play calling you still need to execute. 🤷‍♂️

That’s Coach Cliche for you. But don’t worry, Art the Lesser cares less about winning than Tomlin

Does he think KP is the only problem?
No. But the QB is a huge problem.

Is 20 games not enough of a sample size? I’ll give him the 4th quarter performances, but come on… that many games and only ONE where he threw more than 1 TD? So many other young QB’s are slinging 3-4 in a single game (a few today alone) and he’s just stagnant. He ain’t it.

I don't even think it's that, it's that Mark Madden isn't nearly intelligent enough when it comes to football for me to take his opinion seriously. Well, frankly you could probably extend that to just about everything with him.

Pickett has his issues. Personally, the biggest issue with his game that I have is that he's way too conservative of a thrower, and that's not just due to Canada. It was night and day watching Pickett at QB and Trubisky at QB today in terms of "willingness to take chances", it didn't work particularly great for Trubisky but Pickett's overcautiousness is a big problem. It doesn't matter if you're not throwing interceptions if you're only throwing 5 yard check downs. At some point you need to take a chance.

But am I going to listen to Mark Madden's idiocy as proof of that? Of course not. I'll listen to the QB experts who can actually break down a QB and say whether they're good or bad, not some shock jock radio host.

When qb misses wide open receivers in the end zone, qb is the problem. OC is a problem too, but the QB is THE problem. Just my opinion.

Was Ben the problem on the team in his last year when the team had the same exact issues as it has now?

KP is part of the problem I agree but there are so many other factors with this offense being hot garbage.

Mark Madden has been within one game of predicting the final Steelers record for like 10 straight seasons now. It’s well documented and can’t be ignored.

Source for this? If it's "well documented" it should be easy to find a source for it.

The reality is that Mark Madden is a Pittsburgh sports fan and his entire credibility is "he has a sports radio show". He has no credibility at evaluating any sort of football player beyond anyone in this thread. I might give him some credibility boost for evaluating hockey players, but even that is marginal.

I'm not saying this to say that he's wrong, I'm saying this to mean I'm not taking his opinion to be worth anything. The only opinions of his I'd take seriously is his opinion for the best strip clubs in Pittsburgh, because that's about all of the credibility he has to make claims on.

He's very clearly the best Steelers offensive player who wasn't a center, at the very least.

Ben was a dramatically more efficient passer in his last year than Pickett ever has been. He was also totally immobile and his shoulder was shot.

He had 5 multi-td pass games in 2021. Pickett is still sitting on 1.

Yes, Canada is as incompetent as it gets, but Kenny is not as good as a washed Ben, and you are really reaching if you are confident in Pickett's development at this point.
