Possible pinch of salt but Athletic consensus big board from around the industry has Witherspoon and Broderick Jones both available at 17. I think that's whacky baccy and they're drawing from boards that haven't been updated from the beginning of the season, but it possible we'll have some value there.

These last two drafts are the most excited I’ve been in a while.

Me as well, and it all starts with KP (which is exactly why I’m hoping they get him a LT).

Just read an article yesterday how hard KP has been working (took off a week, then got right back to work).

He wants to be great and I suspect his hard work will pay off and he will take command of the O.

As much as I defended Roth, his reputation for laziness always annoyed me. So this is a nice breath of fresh air having a hard working QB.

Yeah last year was really exciting with all of the QB speculation. And this year is exciting because of the extra second and the number of directions they can go in. I legitimately have no idea what to expect with this draft.

Just in general, this is the most excited I’ve been as a fan in a while. They had a few years toward the end of Ben’s career where it felt like they were just circling the drain.

Im going to assume Ben is the best QB I’ll ever watch play for the Steelers in my lifetime. People can hate on him all they want for a litany of things, but that doesn’t change my opinion.

I want KP to succeed and I’m hoping the team builds up around him so it’s not all on him every week.

I agree with both of these and I am really digging KP. But it's reasonable to suspect that, no matter how hard he works, KP won't be as good as Ben.

But he could be really good and a potentially championship-caliber QB, with the proper help and system support. This is going to be exciting to watch, I think.

I wasn’t around for the 70s Steelers and grew up watching them being a powerhouse, but never having “the guy” to get them over the top in the 90s.

It felt hopeless with Montana, Elway, Young, Favre. Aikman while the Steelers trotted out the likes of Brister, NOD, Tomczak, Miller, Stewart, Graham, and Maddox.

I guess if you grew up only knowing Roth, one wouldn’t really appreciate what he did for this franchise.

I grew up thinking I’d never see the Steelers win a SB, so I always will be appreciative of that, while still acknowledging he was known as lazy and an overall d-bag.

I started with the Bradshaw years at QB and still it's hard not to appreciate what Ben did despite his personal drawbacks. But I think if KP becomes the third-best QB in franchise history (ignoring, of course, things like Unitas being drafted and cast aside) that would be a gigantic win for him and the team. Like I said, it's going to be exciting to watch.

The reality is if he can break the modern day franchise playoff drought record, that would make him an icon in the city.

If he can get them to a SB and win one, even better.

Like you, I believe the KP years will be a lot of fun.

He’s easy to root for and that counts for something.

Yea the first QB I remember seeing (was born in '78) was the tail end of Mark Malone and I was like "this dude sucks". But people said that he had talent and he suffered an injury while playing WR on a freak play and could have been better than he was.

So yea Roth was the best Steelers QB I ever witnessed by a country mile. I only watched a handful of complete playoff games with Bradshaw at the helm so I couldn't necessarily make comparisons

It still blows my mind that Cowher was able to take his band of mediocre QB's as far as he did. No surprise that as soon as he got a franchise QB he had tremendous success.

Hey, Rich Gannon endorsed KP over this years class. I'm sold now.

I'm really intrigued for his growth. Though I'm keeping my expectations for him to be just an above average QB with hopes he can best that.

Finding out what Pickett is is going to be fascinating. Part of me wouldn't be surprised if it turns out he doesn't have the vision and processing to be a full time starter. Part of me wouldn't be surprised if he was the absolute real deal. It's probably somewhere in the middle but given how he's gone, it feels like everything's on the table.

The Steelers are apparently showing a ton of interest in Kelee Ringo. If they don’t go CB in round, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him be the pick at 32.

Bresee/Ringo or JPJ/Dawand Jones are my early guesses for the first two picks if they decide to stay put.

I caught the end of Brister’s career as a kid.

I remember being at a family gathering and telling my one uncle how Bubby was going to take them to the SB.

My other unc came over and started laughing and said “Scrubby Brister! Sure kiddo!”

I wanted to fight him…

Really hoping there's some smokescreens because that'd be some real boom/stuff when I think there's just as much boom and less busy potentially available.

It's funny how little we know as kids, but damn do we ever think we're right lol

I remember betting $5 to one of my mom's friends on the Cincy/SF Super Bowl. My hatred of the 49ers and the phenomenon known as the Icky Shuffle blinded me how great SF was. $5 was a ton of money to an 11 year old and I'm still kinda pissed about it to this day

I did walking handstands across my parents’ game room when Marshall f***ed up Montana:

I hated the 9ers with a passion.

Here is a more comprehensive breakdown:

I have a feeling that if you look at every other team they show the same kind of pattern, especially for first round picks.

I also remember reading something from Colbert years ago that sometimes the guys they do really like they won't spend time sending the entire staff because they don't want to tip other teams off.

These last two drafts are the most excited I’ve been in a while.
This draft I am 2 feet in it. I just feel like this class is special, coupled with us having more picks.

Yea I hated Montana, but looking back I can appreciate his greatness. I was ecstatic when the Giants beat them in the NFCCG.

I read a really good and lengthy article about him a couple months back. It really humanized him and he talked about how he felt discarded by the 49ers.

Ya I appreciate him now and it was just a child’s hatred and jealousy.

I wasn’t celebrating because he was hurt, it was just a massive hit on a huge third down play in the fourth when the 9ers had a four point lead and were driving.

Giants had been kicking FGs all day and if the 9ers scored even a FG on that drive I knew it was over.

Not going to pretend I wasn’t happy he was out for the following year, however. 9ers fans got the last laugh with Young though.

Has there been anything released about Highsmith's extension? It shouldn't be that difficult to extend him. If it is, they should look to flip him at the draft, and draft a replacement.

I don’t think they are worried about it. Nothing will even be discussed until August they can tag him next year at 20 million if needed. I really hope they extend him

Ran some draft simulations. Jalen Carter and Stroud both fell in some hahaha.

But tbh, a lot of scenarios where all the OTs and CBs were gone and I felt like I was in no man’s land. I didn’t want to pull the trigger on Branch so early but no good trade back opportunities. Honestly looked like JSN/Addison was the best bet on the board a lot of those times. Really interested to see what goes down draft night.
If that happens I hope that the Steelers are honest in their self assessment and know this ain't a one year rebuild.

And actually take the best player available.
