Do you think they low balled him and hoped he would sign?

It doesn’t matter if you think he was bad, he was the top LT free agent and the Steelers were trying to sign him.

You seriously are trying to tell me they wanted to sign the biggest LT in FA to compete with Moore?

Maybe it’s more logical that they wanted to replace a guy who gave up the most sacks on the line?

If they wanted the best Lt on the market they would’ve been in on Tunsil.
It could be his agent saying we were interested
He is replacing a guy who gave up 12 sacks in Williams so off course the bengals were desperate

Tunsil re-upped in Houston, how exactly would they have been in on him?

It doesn’t matter if the Bengals were desperate or you think he blows, etc etc.

It matters that they chased after the biggest LT on the market, which they wouldn’t be doing if they were happy with Moore.

This isn’t that hard to follow.

Again a lot of teams called him and viewed him a RT. It doesn’t mean anything Larry signed after him. So no they didn’t chase the biggest Lt on the market. They called him with an opportunity to compete at best. Moore gave up 7 sacks last year Brown gave up 4

There is zero chance they called the best free agent offensive linemen available and only offered him a “chance to compete.” He was going to be the starting left tackle had he signed with Pittsburgh

He was not the best O line men available lol. Tons of teams called him and offered him the opportunity to compete at Lt but preferred him at RT. He is the 21st paid o line men by aav
They signed the best G in fa 2 years in a row for his aav in guarantees he is 27 amongst o line men

He was absolutely the best free agent offensive linemen available.

Tunsil wasn’t a free agent. Brown is better than McGlinchey and Taylor
Yeah sure that’s why KC paid more for Taylor to be the Lt
He was a FA Tunsil just signed a 3 year deal last week the texans made him the highest paid LT ever

Tunsil was under contract with Houston in ‘23 and signed an extension - again, how did the Steelers ever have a chance at signing him?

And how was Brown not the best LT on the market?

Listed Brown as #1 T

Steelers clearly couldn’t sign a guy under contract with the Texans.

Steelers clearly were trying to sign Brown, a SB winning LT, because they weren’t happy with Moore, the guy who gave up the most sacks on their O-line.

Why you are making shit up about Tunsil and how valued Brown was is kind of silly.

The sb winners signed a guy who never played LT for more money than brown got.
Good for him to find a desperate club whose LT gave up 12 sacks but the league didn’t view him as the best available o line men

Was he signed to be a LT by the Bengals?

Yep.

Did the Chiefs win a SB with him at LT?

Yep.

Who was the worst player on the Steeler line that gave up the most sacks?

Moore

What position does Moore play?

LT

Again, this isn’t that hard.

And I’m still trying to understand how the Steelers can sign a guy under contract with another team, you need to help me with that one.

I don't get the idea that Steelers weren't serious about Brown as a LT.

But I don't think that means they're down on Moore.

Think about it like Herbig and Seumalo. Are they down on Herbig? I mean they just signed the dude, clearly not. But they went and signed a guy who'll start in front of him right away. They'll do that to guys they like. But if Seumalo hadn't come here, do we think they'd be hell bent on replacing Herbig in the draft? I don't think so given the money they gave him.

They like Brown. He fits Meyer's model. But I don't think that necessarily means they dislike Moore. I don't think that necessarily means they think Dan Moore was the worst player on the line.

We've seen what they do with positions where they don't believe in what's there. Slash and burn. Dotson's all but done. ILB room is totally done. Moore? Brown wasn't the only OT on the market. If they really hated Moore, why not chase a few more options in case they can't move up?

We'll see how it goes. But I don't think it's crystal clear.

Now to go read up on the new guys.

Now to go read up on the new guys.

If they brought in guys to replace Dotson, who wasn’t as bad as Moore in pass protection, and they chased Brown, it’s obvious they want to upgrade on Moore.

Once Brown was gone, there was no sense chasing anyone else. The LT market was basically Brown and a bunch of Moore clones (and worse).

KC also traded away a guy who is universally viewed as a top 5 receiver. It’s not something they haven’t done before. Them overpaying Taylor doesn’t make him better than Brown. Tunsil was absolutely not a free agent. They signed him to an extension. He was under contract for 1 more year, the Texans just got ahead of it

What Dotson is responsible for both of KP concussions and someone they wanted to replace last season but they had no body else he barely beat out Green. He was the 2nd most talented penaltilized player in the nfl and gave up 4 sacks him

He was just graded higher in pass protection than brown

Who said Dotson wasn’t an issue?

Your points keep getting more incoherent as we go along.

You are basically trying to argue the Steelers aren’t interested in replacing Moore because…

…they didn’t try to sign a guy who was already under contract with another team.

You have some odd takes, but even by your standards, this is bizarre.

Saw an article saying we should package DJ and a 2nd rounder for #12. I want to believe that's even close to a possibility or at least have the optimism of that beat writer.

I mean Houston could use a receiver and they have the cap room to take on DJ’s money. You may be able to do DJ+49+120 for 12th overall
Obviously that'd be a huge win.

They could nab their OT at 12 and with 17/32 get the best CB/WRs
