Would love to see what the Penn State fans, and non Penn State fans who watch them, feel about Joey Porter Jr.. Should he be our pick ? I know Madden feels it would be a nepotism pick, but I don't believe that. Reading on him, he seems legit as mid 1st rounder.

JpJ is a true m2m press corner. He doesn’t have the interception numbers but teams never challenged him in the big 10. He had a pretty good game against MHJ and Ohio state I think his 40 time drops him closer to 32 but they loved William Jackson they are very similar

I know nobody cares about journalism any more but a journalist who makes up a fake story, prank or not, is an ethical issue all its own.

But hes not really a journalist and a podcast isnt a published article. He might be a prick etc.

But having an issue with this is stretching a nothing situation to hate a guy thats already hated.

So Addison just ran a 4.55. I still think he'll go in the first, but that's not a great time for him. If he somehow slipped to 32, that would be awesome.

Yeah, I was wondering what the chances of him slipping to 32. Those chances might have improved. As scouts love their stop watches.

Yeah he also only came in around 170 pounds so that also may worry some teams. I think he's a guy that'll play a lot better than he tests so I'd still be happy for the Steelers to take him.

Neither Addison nor Porter should be first round picks and the Steelers should take neither at #17

It is a real problem but I’m not going to try and change your mind about it.
Its not.

1. Hes not a real journalist. His job doesnt and isnt supposed to hold up to journalism standards.

2. Even if it was, being a guest on someones podcast wouldnt fall under that umbrella.

I can give you a list of things that are real problems, a faux journalist pulling a prank on a podcast about something that is big picture completely irrelevant doesn't come close to that list.

One pick in his college career is concerning.

Maybe it’s an anomaly, but it is definitely something to be wary of.

Eh I think Porter is a first round talent. I wouldn’t draft Addison with either of our first two picks.

I’m hoping he drops to their original second now that he ran a shitty 40 and hurt his back.

On a side note, Richardson ran a 4.4 and killed it on the vertical… hopefully he suckers a team in the top 15 into taking him.

This is pure profile reading but Porter and Addison were both consensus top-15 picks prior to the combine. Porter's lack of long speed was known. I think Addison was expected to do better but not a ton. They were also consensus top-3 in their position for premium positions.

Wait and see but I'm not optimistic on them dropping a ton. Who's rising anyway? Richardson was going before 17 in a ton of mocks already. Smith ran fantastic times for an edge rusher, but is still real small for one. Ditto Kancey for a DL. Campbell did awesome in everything other than the 40, but I presume that only takes him from 2nd/3rd to late 1st/2nd? Some of the CBs ran big times, but I think Banks is the only one who's rising through the first.

Again, wait and see... and maybe I'm stupid as this is the first I've followed a draft... but I'm not sure I see big drops ahead.

Richardson crushed all the measurable. If I read right the best combine of any quarterback prospect ever.

He will be long gone by 17. Top 10 in my opinion. Addison will fall too. To 32? Maybe. He will fall to 25 or later.

Porter now likely will be there for the Steelers in the first round.

No Addison wasn’t a consensus top 3 and by most accounts theres no consensus number 1 Wr in this class. Addison is an undersized slot wr and his college numbers are similar to juju who fell to the 60s
Kancey as a hargrave type will make a team very happy

Richardson was always going top 10 he is further away from starting than Willis but if Carolina can bring in carr for 2 years he can develop behind carr. Levis is vegas bound

Penn State wrestling star, Bo Nikal made his UFC debut tonight. Domination. Dude could be a champion before long. Has that potential.

Many thought Willis was going top ten also, but he lasted way longer than that.

Pretty comparable players… put up avg college numbers, raw, accuracy concerns, athletic run first guy.

Richardson is more of a physical specimen and put up freak combine numbers.

Not sure if teams learned their lesson about guys like Willis and Richardson or if last draft was an outlier.

Hoping teams are still stupid about guys that can’t pass well and fall in love with the athleticism fool’s gold.

I think he had the best QB combine numbers since 2003 I read.

Addison will drop to the third best wr in his class at best I suspect. Where that puts him depends on individual boards, but can’t see him at the top of any teams board after his combine.

Trying to remember the last undersized WR with a RAS number like he posted at the combine to go in the first.

Really hoping his bad combine benefits the Steelers and KP.

Some mocks have Richardson going first overall. Definitely goes top ten and four quarterbacks go before the Steelers pick.

You will love who they mock to the Steelers. Jalen Carter.

Based on what?

The Athletic and Pro Football Network consensus big boards both feature 3 WRs in the top 20 overall, and no more guys until the 30s. That's a very clear top 3 then other guys. Addison is one of the former - 11th overall in Athletic, 14th in PFN - not the latter.

You got another source for what the consensus public scouting opinion looks like, great, lets hear it. But that's what the first (and currently) only two I can find say.

edit: Also the fact we can - at the moment - see a clear top 3 lets us talk about what a GM who needs a WR might do instead of Addison.

Take Johnston first? Sure. Already frequently called.

Take Smith-Njigba before Addison? It's pretty much the same strengths and problems. Smooth productive route runner who mightn't thrive outside and lacks elite athleticism. Smith-Njigba is bigger, but doesn't show the same change of pace and has had hamstring issues.

After those guys...

Hyatt? Well, he's different as a speed demon, although a 4.4 at combine won't help him like the 4.29 he was targetting. Otherwise, a raw stringbean. Downs? A 5'8" probably slot only guy with drop issues sound like Addison, only more explosive and probably better at YAC. Flowers is pretty similar except he's an inch taller. Rice has size and athleticism, but is raw.

Addison probably isn't getting pushed much down the WR rankings. I saw some updated odds on first WR to be picked and he's now behind JSN, but still top three. Maybe teams don't take WRs early this class... but we'll see.

This is our Creed Humphrey.

Yeah, I was wondering what the chances of him slipping to 32. Those chances might have improved. As scouts love their stop watches.

It may drop him, but Addison is like AB. Their timed speed and play speed are two totally different things. Claypool was opposite. That's the crazy thing about wideouts...if they are true technicians, their size and speed almost don't matter because they can get so open so quickly.

The issue I have with Addison is drops, and that will define his career, much like it has for DJ thus far.

There is a better chance of Richardson going first overall (almost nonexistent), than Carter going at 17.

This is just some dumb ass mock trying to be controversial.

Richardson may go top ten though with so many QB needy teams, but the Willis situation last draft gives me pause as I said.
