Mac Jones wasn’t some amazing rookie @Mr Jiggyfly and his warts were very evident down the stretch. He looks like a long term middle tier starter like Dalton or Cousins.

If I was a Pats fan I’d be concerned about his ceiling and if I was a fan of the teams who picked QBs before he went I wouldn’t have any FOMO. Would rather have Mills too.

However only time will tell.

I mean this is a good point and why they did it this year. Reality is most of those 2023 guys are going to drop themselves below even a Pickett level with their play.

but to play ball w/ your question… at this current point in time— Stroud, Young, and Richardson. Obviously subject to change.

In fairness to Mac, who was he throwing to? I agree that Jones isn't a certainty.........but people want to blame the qb first, second and third.

A lot of times these kids are put into no win opportunities.

Young & Stroud are a pass for me......not sure about Richardson, I'll have a better look this season.

Again, teams buy into a narrative as much as the fans do. So many teams tried to do the "smart" pick, rather than taking the obvious pick.

I would lay money that if New Orleans still had Payton, they would have took KP, he would have started day 1 and they are challenging for playoffs and beyond next year.

Definitely fair but he had great TEs and a crew of solid receiving RBs with a proven playcaller/OC… and wasn’t asked to do a whole lot. They ran the ball pretty well too.

Not a ton of star talent around him is valid but at the same time, he was in a cushy spot relative to your typical 1st round QB (see Fields, Lawrence).

Richardson is type of guy that could lose his starting job or go 1st overall. So much talent and flashed it in a small sample; but such a wide range of outcomes lmao

Is that OC proven? He flopped on his own, his only success came with Brady. We'll see how does in his new job. And I'm only post Eastwood because I like him. :)

They spend a ton of money in free agency they signed the top 2 te Henry and Smith. They signed 2 wr Bourne and agolor. They invested 163 million in guaranteed money on the team before drafting him. They still only finished a half game ahead of us

Young and Stroud are better prospects. Hard to predict who will be a one year wonder like Baby Hands was this year. There is always some QB that comes out of the blue. Gun to my head, I'd predict Will Levis out of that list will be next year's one hit QB to cash out big in the NFL draft. Body like Tazan, athletic, mobile, big lively arm, in the SEC as his positives.

Agholor? He had one season that barely sniff 900 yards. Other than that, his career screams extremely average at best.

Bourne???? Much of the same........ironically his best season coming last year.

I think my point stands

This sounds exactly like the stupidity last year at this time when people knocked around Mac Jones.

Dude ended up being better than all the other “elite” QBs taken before him.

Some of us who aren’t blinded by the new age QB BS insisted Jones would excel because he was an accurate and cerebral QB.

KP will excel because he has the same traits.

The QB position will always be about quick processing and accuracy - no amount of freak athletes becoming the in thing will ever change that.
One of his most celebrated attributes is how he progresses through reads. That’s probably the most important thing to me and why I was scared away from Willis.

Yet they got paid 13 million a year for 2 for Aghlor and 15 million a year for 3 years for Bourne from New England

Im on board with the Pickett selection so no reason to argue with you but i want to take this bet just to see how we’re going to determine who wins.

Baby hands hasn't played any games in December or January in Pittsburgh. In fact, he's only played once in Pittsburgh the last week in November. Baby Hands is a total unknown to playing in adverse weather.
tell me exactly which QB out there in the FBS has played a down in inclement weather in Dec/Jan at any point in their college career? The season ends in Nov & if they go to a bowl, it's usually in the south. Or if in the north, they play it in a dome. This has to be one of the most absurd takes on here.

Exactly.

People focus on the wrong things in the wrong order.

Analogous was during the cup year I was trying to explain to a couple of Ducks' fans that the Pens were a speed team. But it was not Rico Fata speed. But that they quickly knew where the other players on the ice were and made quick crisp passes up the ice.

Similar here. Pickett would not win a foot race with Willis. Nor pass the ball down the field as far in some pee wee football contest.

But I would bet dimes to dollars he will make his progressions and find the correct option and then get the ball to him faster and much more accurately as both progress through their pro careers.

What is the more important skill?

If an absurd take...why are you literally parroting the same thing I said? Reading comprehension is a b***h. Baby Hands ability to play effectively in adverse weather is TBD. He may or may not be okay.
