IMO, Sirianni has had little to do with their success and especially the roster and build of the team. That is all Roseman, he is the true head of the organization.

I wouldn’t say little to do with their success, but it’s a valid point about Roseman.

More proof they need to take personnel and coaching decisions out of Tomlin’s hands.

Who cares if Tomlin is the highest paid HC no salary cap for spending on coaches and they have the least amount on their staff. You can’t even fire an assistant coach whose under contract without Art ok.
The Eagles Rosemen fired dc and oc last season made the dc the the highest paid in the league and they have the best o line coach in football.
Here in Pittsburgh Khan is a bean counter figure head and every pick or signing is 100 percent on Tomlin.

You have zero clue what Steelers coaching staff is being paid, the numbers are never released.

Cowher had a small staff and it wasn’t an issue - we also have no clue whose decision that is.

It’s all BS excuses.

Some is reported and it’s why we can’t get top coaches. They had a former Pittsburgh player who played at Robert Morris Hank Fraley interview for the o line coaching gig but got more money in Detroit and he is now a top 5 o line coach in the league
They weren’t spending big money on Cowher the going rate back then was 4 million a year.

Do you think Tomlin makes more than the rest of his staff combined? I do, and it reflects greed and egomania.

Absolutely it does I don’t know if its greed. Ben Johnson reportedly got 13 million from Chicago maybe the cost of good coaching is going up. Peyton makes 18 in Denver Harbaugh in bmore makes 16 million

So when the Steelers were in decrepit 3 Rivers and couldn’t afford to be active in FA in those days, Cowher some how put together great coaching staffs that were the envy of the league - and had his staff regularly poached.

But now the Steelers have money to piss away on making Tomlin the third highest paid coach in the league, and overpay duds like Queen.

But let me get your story straight… AR2 is too cheap to bring in coaches Tomlin wants?

Your logic adds up. Yep.

Cowher must have been using some kind of dark magic like, knowing football or something.

There is league rules on salary cap spending you have to spend a certain percentage of the cap over a 3 year period there’s no rules on coaches. They have to spend 70 million in new money this offseason and more next offseason. Usually they hit on draft picks and get 2nd contracts but they have sucked since 2018 and don’t have a 50 million dollar Qb

This team rules. The only thing giving me any hope is that last year Dulac said they had no interest in Wilson or Fields and two weeks later their QB room was Wilson and Fields.

Tangential, but I'm still so puzzled by their PR strategy from last year. All that effort spent pumping Pickett's tires only to jump right on Wilson. I guess from their perspective they didn't want to bet on Wilson and then get made to look like fools when he didn't come, but I don't think anyone would have judged them for being measured on Pickett.

Also, just abandon all hope now, it's easier.

This is where khan says RW shop around and see what is out there and negotiates with Fields. There’s no way RW comes back unless he is given pole position and paid as the unquestioned starter

Yeah I don’t know. They definitely feed Dulac some stuff they want circulated but I’m also completely convinced that he is utterly clueless when it comes to their plans on roster construction.

Who’s gonna really want him though? Teams weren’t exactly tripping over themselves when he was available for league minimum last year so I can’t really see a team being all in on giving him a decent sized contract this year.

Plus you know Tomlin will be pushing for him.

I honestly have no idea how this relates to our discussion.

One doesn’t have to be a math whiz to know the Rooneys got a cash register with a new stadium vs when they struggled to pay and keep players in the 3 Rivers days.

Dan Rooney had a severely limit budget to pay his head coach and coaching staff in those days.

Yet Cowher worked within that shoestring budget to put together legendary coaching staffs.

Tomlin has no such limitations and can’t even add one branch to his coaching tree.

It’s always someone else’s fault for Tomlin being a fraud.

It was Roth, Fichtner, Butler, Canada, KP, Colbert etc

Now it’s because AR2 is holding him back by being a cheapskate that won’t let him hire good coordinators.

It’s never Tomlin, the only constant.

Just excuses and coincidences.

We are going act like 01 wasn’t an afc championship team and and 02 didn’t win the division

what don't you understand about "read one, read 2, then make something happen"
do you think that means not reading a defense??

2001 13-3
2002 10-6
2003 6-10
you don't see the pattern??

I would keep Fields due to no better options but no point in keeping RW IMO.

Only guy I don’t hate in this draft is Milroe because the physical talent is legit + reported strong character/work ethic.. but I don’t trust the Steelers to get the most out of him. Also think he’s going to go too early and they’ll likely need to spend 21OA on him.

Vegas is the only chance he has to start. I could see them trying to get Sanders and redshirt him behind RW or they take a qb round 2 and Jeanty Harris combo back field
Tomlin probably wanted him back before the playoffs but now is taking about mobility

Makes me kinda believe what was reported as true.

Seems they wanted to slow it down for Pickett, make him sit/compete with Wilson for a year but keep him around. But Wilson coming in changed things, Pickett took it as “I can’t trust that they’re not done with me” (fair - and also I’m sure he wasn’t happy with the Canada situation) and asked to be dealt to a fresh start.

Steelers are going nowhere until they find another QUARTERBACK. Bradshaw and Ben. Everyone in between and after hasn’t done anything for us. Even Kordell. With our Defense I’m shocked we haven’t at least won one year of a Nick Foles or Trent Dilfer championship.

Yes 6-10 was because of an injury to the o line Fanaca played LT that season the defense got old. Maddox was running some weird shut gun spread.
Yes the read 1 and 2 make something happen is what teams who have Fields Daniels Hurts types. Most Qbs don’t use straight drop back passing anymore

so around 1 mil ?
like these 2 DCs who had their defenses playing better then tomlin/austin did at the end of the season

Vance Joseph$1.2 million
chris shula $1.3
Chris Shula runs a 3/4 like we used to with stud DL guys on rookie deals. I am happy TJ is finally considering switching sides and we should get younger on DL so we can actually see games with the DL

He's definitely had some big misses.

I would add that one obvious way a guy with obvious sources can be wrong on stuff like this is if the source is coming from an org that changes its mind a lot or has a bunch of dysfunction where knowledge isn't shared or people have big differences in opinion on what to do. I feel like there's a fair bit pointing to a lot of that with the QB room.

Or he's a useful idiot.

Arians was a Cowher hire, promised the OC job by Rooneys when Tomlin was hired.

So not sure what he has to do with Tomlin’s non existent tree.
Even the mighty Oak starts off as but a tiny seed.
