I'm ignoring the RB part because those dudes falling to Rs 3/4 is nothing new.

But the DL stuff, I'm skeptical because there's never enough of them for anyone. I'm skeptical that the NFL won't respond by glutting themselves on the dudes there, and skeptical of the idea that any draft has 15-20 genuine starter prospects there. Not just "has the athletic profile, see if you can make something of him" but actually straight up on a starter trajectory types in terms of production, technique and the rest of it. Yeah, maybe a mass of raw material means you can find a guy in the 3rd/4th... but that's true most drafts of almost all positions.
That is true, but I don't think these next 2 or 3 drafts are normal. These are the kids who played longer because of COVID. 15-20 may be overshooting it, but there are some really good DL that I think we will be able to snag in the 4th or 5th round.

Here's Jeremiah's mock. Probably the best sign of what might happen around the league at this date, although plenty of time for it to change

But we've had a couple of covid drafts and most of the DT prospects are 22 or under according to NFLDraftBuzz.

Funny Jeremiah picked Abdul because that is the right pick, IMO, and not enough analysts are picking it. Don't make it any more complicated.

I also think Shadeur to Oakland makes a ton of sense with Carroll and Brady in the fold there. Shadeur is a good football player. He definitely gets slighted because of his last name. I'm not sure if he's anything more than an average NFL QB though.

And if Will Johnson drops to even 12 and we don't move up, we are messing up.

Stewart and Van Ness in GB would be two of the most physical specimens on defensive line we have seen in the last 2 drafts on the same team.

Ben never won a playoff game where he attempted 33 passes or more

Roth had one of the best playoff records in NFL history to start a career under Cowher’s guys, Whiz and Arians - 10-4.

Roth still holds the NFL record for most playoff wins by the age of 25.

Once Tomlin started hiring his own guys, things went to hell - and Roth only won three more playoff games in his career.

It’s not a coincidence when Tomlin took control of the offense, Roth’s playoff career had a startling 180.

Just like it’s not a coincidence Tomlin has no coaching tree.

Just like it’s not a coincidence Tomlin continues to bomb in the playoffs post Roth.

It was a great stretch and they did a good job ben was was surrounded by a sb ready team. Ben was able to surprise teams but as he got older he wasn’t a film guy he wasn’t a read the defense Qb even BA said that

In Ben's hayday, were QBs even attempting 33 passes or more?
The league has changed sure but Ben only has 1 play off win with 300 yards passing. The more they ran the ball and limited his mistakes the better the team played no different than now

If we could trade Minkah for a 1, I'd turn around and draft this guy.

The Steelers would be lucky to trade Minkah for a 3rd. Zero chance they can get a 1st. His contract is completely out of line with his performance. I think they should seriously consider using a June 1st Designation on him if a team isn't willing to trade a decent pick for him, say a 3rd. Because trading him means a 13.7mil caphit for this season and only a 8.645mil savings. If they designate him as a June 1st, he would be a 6.855mil caphit for this season and next, with a cap savings of 15.5mil for this season and 17.5mil next season. He doesn't have any guaranteed money left. I honestly wonder if they may ask him to take a paycut/restructure to lower his salary.

A big no from me on Shemar Stewart in the 1st round. He is Leal 2.0. I don't think he fits the Steelers scheme at all.

The two DL I really like in this draft from a Steelers fit perspective are Derrick Harmon (Oregon) and Alfred Collins (Texas).

Harmon will be taken in the mid to late first round. Collins will probably go in the 30-60 range. Which means he may make it to the Steelers pick at 52.

Kenny Grant interest me as well but I think Grant is NT in the Steelers scheme and I would rather they find a run stuffing guy in Free Agency since a NT is only going to play 30-40% of the snaps for the Steelers.

Walter Nolen interests me as well but he doesn't quite have the size. But he is a run stopping force.

The Steelers definitely need to do something about the DL. Cam will be 36 heading into next season. IMO, he was the Steelers MVP this past season. And they have to start thinking about life without him and they need to get him help. Having a rotation to keep him fresher towards the end of the season would be great.

Thus I think they take a DL in the 1st or 2nd round. But I also think they need to spend some the FA money on a spot starter backup/NT as well. Maybe someone like DJ Jones or a Kinlaw.

I think the 3 obvious positions they need to be considering with their 1st and 2nd rounders are WR, DL and CB, but FA moves could change that up. I'm regularly flip-flopping on whether I want to trade Pickens or not, I think you could get a 2nd for him and draft all 3 of those positions with your 1st and 2 2nds. That said, you could have a really lethal 1-2 punch if you can manage to sign Godwin or Adams as a FA and keep Pickens.

This was posted a couple of weeks ago, but they need to do 2 of 3 with their WR group:

1. Draft a WR in round 1
2. Sign someone like Adams or Godwin in free agency.
3. Keep Pickens

If the DL is a concern enough to warrant using a 1st on it, that makes me inclined to go with 2 and 3 here.

You don’t catch teams off guard for 8 years boss.

Roth was on pace to have a historical career until Tomlin took over control of the offense.

Cowher’s last three OCs, Mularkey, Whiz and Arians were ALL hired to be head coaches.

Tomlin’s three OC hires with Roth were all so bad they were never hired in the NFL again, save an 8 game stint for Haley with the Browns before he was fired.

Cowher had a legendary tree.

Tomlin doesn’t even have a seed.

Again, not a coincidence Roth was doing historical shit under Cowher and his hires and things went to shit under Tomlin and his clown shoe OCs.

The more success Ben had early on made him less adaptable and coach able

Ya less adaptable to the tune of one of the best playoff records of all time after his first 8 seasons.

Facts are facts.

Roth was 10-4 in the playoffs under Cowher’s guys, going to three SBs and had two rings.

Tomlin let Whiz and Airans run the O, that’s well known and verified.

Roth went 3-6 when Tomlin took over the O and started hiring his own OCs.

Facts.

Cowher’s OCs were hired as head coaches.

Facts.

Tomlin’s OCs were so bad only the Browns hired Haley for 8 games and kicked him to the curb.

Facts.

Roth has been gone for three years now and we still see the same unprepared teams in the playoffs and offenses that can’t score in the first half.

Facts.

It’s not a coincidence Tomlin taking over the O derailed Roth’s career and the numbers bear that out quite easily.

Expecting a pretty easy win for the Chiefs…chiefs-Eagles Super Bowl…not my favorite but the Eagles are really really good and have a good chance to stymie KC

Nah…Hurts can actually read a defense…either that or his offensive play calling staff are geniuses compared to the Steelers lol…probably both
It’s a simple rpo half read offense with the best rb in football and a top o line. Rpo motion makes it easier for the Qb
