As far as the actual game goes, pathetic.
How did "one of the best defenses" let them ram in down their throats in the first half? You were expecting them to lean on their running game without their most dynamic receiver, right? You weren't prepared for their nearly 1,000 yard rushing QB to keep the ball on run options from the get go? I guess props for the half time adjustment....? But it was too late.
On offense, I'm not sure I agree with people saying Wilson picked up garbage yards once the game was out of reach. Teams playing prevent defense give you underneath stuff and try to prevent quick scores. They did the exact opposite on the 98 yard drive and the TD to Pickens. To me, this is what the offense should have been all along. Push the ball down field CONSISTENTLY, not just every now and then. Use the pass to setup the run and vice versa. But Tomlin (and maybe Smith, too, but I'm still skeptical it's not Tomlin's directive) is to ONLY use the run to setup the pass, don't risk anything, hold onto the ball for as long as possible, etc.
It was an unbelievably bad game plan, except we're use to it. So it's not actually unbelievable.
