So of the 56 first round TE picks, I would say 6 lived up to their first-round status over the course of their career: Gonzalez, Olsen, Newsome, Vernon Davis, Winslow (not Jr/II), Heath, and maybe you could put Shockey in there. We'll see how Pitts works out. Of the three clear best TE today, Kelce was a third round; Waller was a 6th, and Kittel was a 5th. Hockenson and Fant, both recently drafted in the first, have been pretty good, but injuries have already been an issue for both.

We'll see about our newest addition in the fall, I guess.

Roethlisberger will be saying; "I came back for this?" He's going to be running for his life. This is the most arrogant organization in the NFL. They live in their own world. Apparently, they didn't watch their Offensive Line play last season.
Eh.... After generational talent at the top.....ol difference is minimal and risky.....usually comes down to developing....which is a strength for Pittsburgh

I'd seen some stuff today that the Steelers liked him, but yeah there's not a question . . . they need an OL next round. And I think it's got to be one of the centers, even Myers at worst.

Haha. This isn't good...

Friermuth wasn’t drafted in the 1st round.......Gronk was drafted in the second, that kinda worked out.

i mean they aren’t good enough to win so who cares if they don’t get the exact pieces that help them best fake it next year

Yep; I realize that. I had more been wondering about Pitts and other TE taken in the first round. It popped back into my mind when Friermuth was drafted. Re Gronk, I don't know; was he an outlier for a 2nd round TE pick? I suspect he was.

Like I said, we'll see. It seems risky to me, especially given their needs at OL, but what do I know. At least they didn't take a CB. We all know how that will end under this regime.

I get the whole 'how can the Steelers run the ball without a line that can block' argument. But, think about it in the type of context that would appeal to Artie II . . .

You can't call too many pass plays if your line can't pass block.
