With the OL, all I think I'd do is plan on re-signing Moore on a short term deal (like 2 years) and sticking with the group as-is.
Go with Moore-Seumalo-Frazier-McCormick-Fautanu as the starters with Jones, Anderson and another interior OL (Herbig type but I don't think he's under contract for next year) as the backups, just let the young guys grow.
Fautanu is injury prone enough that I like the idea of sticking with Moore, Fautanu and Jones as their tackles as long as they can afford it.
You willing to do Moore at 3/4 years?
I will be really surprised if Moore doesn't get a lot more than that.I wouldn't do 3 or 4 years but I don't see why 2 years would be an issue.
You're realistically looking at an Andrew Wylie type of deal at around 2-3 years and $8-$10 million a years. I'd give him 2x10 and then reevaluate once both Jones' and Moore's deals are done.
I will be really surprised if Moore doesn't get a lot more than that.
This is all very valid and also props for giving the ball to Wilson when the team seemed to be falling apart mentally. Wilson has been a captain and the players are feeding off of his energy which at the very least makes this team more fun to watch than it’s been the last few yearsI will say this for Tomlin.
For all the crap that I give him about idiotic decisions and never learning. And that is legitimate. He on the other hand gets the most out of players than almost any other coach in the league.
And handles diva head cases squeezing production out of them when on many other teams they would, and often do after they leave, spiral out of control.
If I am going to criticize, I am fair enough to give credit.
Agreed. They are more fun to watch, which in and of itself is a plus in my book. This is all very valid and also props for giving the ball to Wilson when the team seemed to be falling apart mentally. It's pretty amusing to see the usual suspects downplaying this win on the same weekend the Chiefs should have lost at home to Broncos and the Ravens should have lost at home to the Bengals. This isn't college football and you don't play Mississippi State or Purdue where winning by less than 30 is disappointing. They beat a 7-2 team on the road despite having several bad breaks go against them and not playing their best, yet apparently this win doesn't really count either. Ok Peat. Go back to longing for Kenny Pickett.
Probably time to acknowledge being very wrong about the move from Fields to Wilson. Wilson isn't what he was, but he's a legitimate starting NFL QB, something they haven't really had since before Ben snapped his elbow. Tomlin 1, Brightside 0.
That Thanksgiving game man.
I don't see any reason to think that Moore would get a lot more than that.
Orlando Brown got 4 years at $16 million a year and Moore doesn't even come close to him.
Speaking more long-term, I’m curious to see what money Wilson would want on an extension. Anything below $30 million seems like it would be worth it but Wilson being willing to stay on a cheaper deal would make it even better.
Ben’s last year was at $14 million, if you can get Wilson a bit above that ($15-$20 million) I’d be super happy.
Agreed. They are more fun to watch, which in and of itself is a plus in my book.
And one more feather to give Tomlin, and apology from me.
I honestly didn't think that he was ever going to open the offense up again. That he was wedded to that boring take no chances defense first, second and always form of offense.
He indeed has opened it up with Wilson going down field far more often. And as we predicted, it makes all the difference. Teams can no longer cheat and stack the box, which opened the running game.
we could franchise him for a year and see if jones comes out of his funkI will be really surprised if Moore doesn't get a lot more than that.
The eye test shows that they are far less predictable. And they definately have added the long ball far more often and used the middle of the field ten to fifteen yards from scrimmage.i thought we were way to prediable on 1st down. i'll guess we ran something like 90% on 1st down today, even on 1st and 15 after a procedure penalty in the 4th qr when needing a score
that's not opening up things for me. its been better but needs improvement
i'll take it, but that should be automatic after coming up short on 3rd down. why are they going to the sideline firstGreat win. Still can't believe drawing them offsides actually worked. Wilson is playing a lot better than I expected and gives us a calm and confidence on offense that we've been missing for years.
i agree with you that its better. The eye test shows that they are far less predictable. And they definately have added the long ball far more often and used the middle of the field ten to fifteen yards from scrimmage.
Teams are no longer stacking the box as they used to.
Believe me, it kills me to give Tomlin credit. I hate saying that I am wrong even more.
Buf fairness calls for a person to be honest.
The franchise tag for OL is almost $21 million.we could franchise him for a year and see if jones comes out of his funk
Umm, yeah. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.I don’t know why but this season feels different.. this season feels like we’re the PITTSBURGH F*CKING STEELERS and I love it
That was a great call, jackass dropped a sure touchdown.
