Yeah, if someone offered a 2nd rounder for Warren I'd be delighted to take it. Useful player, but he's only really lit things on fire 1 season out of 3. And I wouldn't entirely put that on him as I think team rushing yards over expected should be considered a judgment on the whole unit and I know I gave the RBs the least blame in that, but it rarely hurts to start again with RB.

There’s zero chance a team trades a 2nd for Warren. I’d be shocked if you could even get a 3rd for him tbh. He’s not really having that good of a year, his Y/A is way down and he’s probably not even going to average 40 yards a game.
I agree with the comparisons made above regarding Hill, I think Warren will just be re-signed at about $3 million a year. That said, he’s definitely more of a great backup than a starting RB, so they’ll need to get another RB even with keeping him.
Also if we’re taking QB, I feel like you’re better off dangling a 1st+ to Minnesota for McCarthy than using a 1st to draft and QB this year. Seems like they may be sticking with Darnold going forward.

Warren’s stats this season are marred by his hamstring injury at the beginning of the year. In his first 5 games he had 3.3 y/a and was failing the eye test as well. Since then he’s registered 4.7 y/a and has looked more like himself.
Whatever they ultimately do my #1 request is that they end this 3-headed monstrosity approach. It takes everyone out of rhythm while making their playcalling more predictable to opponents.

I wasn't saying the Steelers should do that, I meant that if they're looking at a QB, they should look at McCarthy rather than any of the draft eligible QBs this year. The Steelers will almost definitely just re-sign Wilson and Fields and just stick with the two.
That's a fair comment and Warren also has a lot of receiving yards over that window as well. 385 rushing yards and 256 receiving yards in 9 games is not bad at all out of a RB.
That said, I still believe that Warren is much more of a great backup and they need a true RB1. Harris is that based on availability and carries, but I don't think he is that based on ability.
If they can't, the quicker that is exposed and they can move on the better. Would suck to waste the last years of Watt and Heyward that way but it's tough seeing a veteran out there that won't do the same.

At some point I can only hope HE has to realize that he can't get it done and will retire. I don't think the Steelers will fire him...it's not something they do and they will be dropping big hints for him to hang it up or maybe come right out and tell him to move on.
I think he is starting to get it a little that he just doesn't have what it takes to make it again. Or maybe he never did? He won with a Cowher team that was overflowing with talent and hall of famers. As time has moved on with his influence on the team they have lost that championship mojo. You could see it with the 2010 season...as Cowher's team slowly faded out so did the playoff wins. His best year was 2016 when the Steelers had Ben, Brown, Bell and Bryant. They had a great team that year and he couldn't do it. They got smoked in the AFC Championship game. I mean it wasn't even close. He could coach the chiefs right now and they would probably lose their first playoff game.
He's Mediocre Mike...he's also very egotistical. He doesn't want to come to the grips with the fact a lot of the failures are because of him. He started out on a tear with playoffs his first year and then a Super Bowl win in 2008 season and then appearance in the 2011 Super Bowl. Since then it been mediocre Mike. All that success early on puffed up his big head to think that he was some great coach and he knew exactly what he was doing. I think it's finally starting to sink in to him that he is not. As he has influenced this team over the years they've become just like him...mediocre.
All the talking heads love him. Oh he's a players coach...he's great to work under...on and on and on. That's great but last time I checked the NFL is about winning. When they give out a trophy for nicest coach maybe he will win something. L:ike Tomlin remarked on Parker's ire about not getting the ball some time ago "Every day I walk past 6 Lombardi trophies not 6 Mr. Congeniality trophies".
Then we hear from the "experts" that you don't want him to leave because he will be hired the next day. I hope when he does leave that the Ravens or Bengals hire him. Then we won't have to worry about them winning a championship anymore. He can go to one of them and make them mediocre.

1 thing the media never brings up is Tomlin's coaching tree. He's been HC for almost 20 years! I've been a manager for 13 years and I've had people under me go onto bigger and better things either inside or outside my company. Couldn't be happier for them and they deserved their promotions. If I was in my job for 20 years and had NO ONE improve, I'd seriously question my mentorship abilities.
Curiously if NFL owners and coaches thought remotely highly of Tomlin, wouldn't they be falling over themselves to poach and promote his assistants?
Isn't that why we have coaching trees? If you can't hire the guy, then you at least hire someone in his orbit hoping to catch lightning in a bottle. Unless that guy is a fraud, then you probably stay away....

I mean, there's probably some truth to these theories, but I think the reality is that the style Tomlin wants to play on offense and his micromanagement of the defense is the issue. No young coordinator candidate with a future is going to step into an offense where you operate solely not to hurt the defense or into a defense where the HC is going to meddle constantly.

2025 draft would be a good one for us to back up in depending on how things shake out. This draft is looking to line up exceptionally well for what we need to do, I think.

This is supposedly one of the deepest RB classes in a long time. I’m hoping the Steelers target RB somewhere in rounds 2-4. Kaleb Johnson is at the top of my list right now. He’s a decisive north south runner and would be an upgrade on Najee. His projected 40 time is a slight concern, but tbd at the combine.

Jeanty is a wet dream for me, just because I think he's a potential unicorn in the NFL, but a backfield of Johnson and Warren and what appears to be a young, run oriented OL could be very successful and give the team a true identity. I think Johnson fits this team perfectly. He and Warren run kind of similarly, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Warren's running style doesn't really need a "change of pace" back. He's one cut and downhill.
I also don't bet against guys like Skattebo. He has a Pittsburgher mentality also.

A lot can change with FA, the draft process, and the draft itself, but I'm still prioritizing WR, DL, and maybe CB above RB. They definitely need to address RB, but do they need to address it within the first 2 or 3 rounds? I dunno.

I'd rather look into FA to fill the DL and CB spots tbh. Ogunjobi and Jackson are both likely walking after the year, so a bunch of money should be opened up to fill those two spots. I'm not confident you can get a legitimate CB2 without a high draft pick out of the gate, I'd rather go into FA and fill that role.
I'd probably do a WR round 1 and either a RB and DE/DT in round 2 and 3, depending on who the best guy available for those roles are. I'd bet that a WR round 1, a DE/DT in round 2 and a RB in round 3 yields probably the best immediate NFL help.
I’d go the FA/trade route for a WR and then go CB/DL in round 1 as of right now. I’d feel pretty good about this team finding an impactful WR early in the draft but I’d rather not even risk them being in the same position they’re in now if that player is a bust. Splash some cash or assets on an established guy.
