The more I see KP play, the more he reminds me of 2 guys:

Jake Plummer and Jake Delhomme

Weren't the fastest. Didn't have the best arm and not necessarily the most accurate. Throwing motions weren't exactly clean.
But they both had that moxie and desire to win by any means necessary. They both had "above average" processing/progressions.

You can win a ton of games with those kinds of QB's. KP won't be Josh Allen or Mahommes or any superstar QB, but he's not actively hurting this team.

And people think that what you see now is what KP will be in year 4 of his career. Check out Brady or Allen or even Ben's rookie years. Much different than what they are now.
If we're on a scale and 10 is a stud QB, KP is at a 5/6 grade for this season. His ceiling is ~8

It may be some coping on my part, but it’s possible we’re entering a new stretch in the NFL where it’s more possible to win with those guys than in the past.

Guys like Brady, Ben, the Mannings, Rodgers, Wilson, and some of the other big name QBs that were always in the playoffs are either retired or seriously declining.

Mahomes is already in that elite level. Allen and Herbert probably will be. But I think the caliber of QB play league wide will be down for a few years.

I agree with you. I also believe these things come in cycles. There are some draft classes where you have 3 elite QB's and then you don't get ANY for about 4 years

Push athleticism over QB skill is certainly an issue with the game as a whole. From youth to pro levels. It’s like the generations who grew up playing Madden never discovered that video games aren’t real life

I don’t really like comparisons, so I try not to do it much.

KP is going to be KP basically. His chapters aren’t written and he will be the one filling in those blanks, not some QB from the past.

I feel strongly he will be a guy like Roth, that is always under appreciated nationally (and by some Yinzers) but that can win divisions and make the playoffs etc.

The difference is early in his career Roth was money in the playoffs, and that’s where KP’s legend will grow or fall.

Right now I feel good about his chances, but we’ll see how I’m feeling this time next season.

I enjoy this process though, unlike many fans who seem to be having freak outs and hissy fits.

Watching a rookie QB fight through adversity and grow is suppose to be fun, lighten up ppl.

It's funny how the game has evolved and has copied college ball. Remember about 15 years ago the Wildcat with Ronnie Williams was the rage. That came from CFB.

Now you have a different version of the Wildcat where the QB is essentially a RB. We'll see what defenses do to counter all this RPO we're seeing. Defenses eventually adapt and catch up.

They have 19 million next year without even touching TJ contract or Minka which both can restructured to open up more.

They have 8 million for a DL guy I am thinking Payne from DC Hargrave Or Larry O to go with Loudermouth Neal ADams and a draft pick could see a Buggs reunion
Bush will probably get a 2 year similar to Jack
Kaze will probably get 2 years
Edmunds will probably get 3/24 like von bell
Sutton is getting 3/24 like Hilton
Bringing those guys back doesn't necessarily make the team better either. It's a stagnant year, at best.

Do you think they are going to have 8 new starters on defense.
Sutton is their best CB bush is 2nd on the team with tackles
Kazee is exactly what they want with 3 safety look
Edmunds is a Swiss Army knife that Minka loves to play with
They still will draft a Cb a 3rd olb probably a Lb to push Spillane off the roster
I think they will draft a LT and C

I think Bush is hurtling towards the same situation as Edmunds last year. After a big to-do about the 5th year option and a referendum on the player, pick, etc. we just end up bringing him back for $3-4M next year.

Truthfully I'm good with it at this point. He is improving.

Exactly he will get some type team friendly prove it deal. In world where the bills Edmunds is looking for 12 million Aav give me a guy who knows the system at a even half

It’s a shame Olu went back. Would’ve been my pick.

Porter… idk. He’s toolsy but grabby. I think he’s a better football player than a cover corner which I’m not exactly meaning as a compliment.

He could be great, could be eh for a top 10-15 pick.

Watching Kurt Warner's video on Pickett - he talks about some of the routes/plays just not being designed to really help anything, like having a WR buzz in front of a guy and turn to the sideline to "draw" him over so the hook route opens for the TE.... but like Warner says why waste the time? Just have the WR run his route directly that way - he shows how it just takes too long to develop and lets the covering LB cover both guys in that moment where the QB needs to make a decision.

It's such a big catch 22 with Canada and KP.

If KP comes on and does well down the stretch, which most of us should hope for, it means Tomlin and Rooney will have their excuse to bring back Canada.

You just know Tomlin will have that word salad BS all ready:

"Robble robble, (big word that doesn't fit here), don't want to interrupt this process of Kenny's growth, (add in confusing words that don't fit to sound smart), robble robble."

When a TV analyst would be a schematic improvement over your OC

Calling Kurt Warner a TV Analyst as if he didn't play the position at a high level.......

That being said, I agree with what you and he said and I have noticed it as well. Too many times you see Steelers receivers right next to each other down the field.
