I think the overall point today is that Canada is the one constant in all of these debacles.

26 games worth.

First it was Roth’s fault because he was too old and slow to run this super awesome O… funny how the offense with the same personnel scored points when Roth called the plays - quite curious.

in the off season all I heard was MT was the athletic QB Canada needed to run his super awesome O.

Once the games started, MT was playing the worst ball I ever saw under Canada.

Now KP looks like ass. Is he? No idea, but the one thing I’m sure of is that they won’t find out who KP is with Canada as

Looks like Canada has a two year expiration date anyway, so if history holds he's toast after this year regardless

At this point kp is being asked to carry an offense that cant run, cant block and cant get open.
He is not asked to carry anything stop making excuses. He is asked to not turn it over wins and losses do not matter. Improve on his 0 2nd half tds and 6 of 8 interceptions in the 2nd half. Maybe get his ypa near 7 and it will be a successful 2nd half of our season

Pretty good listen. His play has been disappointing but he gets it as a leader.

Tomlin needs to listen to what his players are saying.

There was one thing I disagreed with. He basically said that if you continue to have 14 or 16 play drives something bad will inevitably happen. I don’t agree with that. I think you can have those drives and not have bad things happen. I’m not saying you don’t need some explosive plays, but he basically sounded like he was saying if we keep having long drive we are going to turn the ball over and I don’t agree with that

Sounds like they need to practice every day and watch film every day during the bye week

Feel like he contradicted himself with that when he mentioned after about controling possession but 14 play drives are that and can wear the other teams D.

Pickett is politely saying that their offense sucks at moving the ball down the field and it forces him to take more chances that lead to turnovers because of their inability to make longer plays. Which is 100% true.

Pickett is obviously not innocent with the struggles of the offense, but he's entirely right with what he's saying there. Their running game sucks between Harris and a bad run blocking OL. Their OC calls plays that don't result in WRs being open, and their WRs aren't good enough playmakers to make stuff happen with bad play calls. Pickett has to take chances to make big plays, which have resulted in numerous turnovers. A majority of his turnovers that I can remember were him trying to take shots down the field when the team was in a do or die position.

It all stems back to Canada of course. Better play calling can both lead to more success with the running game and it opens up option in the pass game. We saw that today, they called a couple of draw runs that were very successful because it caught the Eagles off guard. But with how the playcalling has been so far, it's just super predictable and easy to force Pickett into situations where he needs to take risks.

He's a rookie playing behind probably the worst offensive team. These are the growing pains, and the team needs to get better. Half the battle is a O-line who can actually block.

Lebeau’s whole defensive philosophy was based around forcing teams into those types of long, high rep play drives, because he felt the odds were much better for getting a turnover.

So KP isn’t wrong, but that still doesn’t excuse the turnovers.

It’s hard to consistently score in the NFL if you have to put together 14-16 play drives all the time.

If you can run the ball…

I don’t think we can rule out any factor as to why the O blows. I highly suspect it is Canada, but with him gone this may still be a bad offense, just not a historically bad one.

People rag on Harris, the O line and KP, but the receivers may not be as good as we hope/think.

Claypool and DJ aren’t exactly known as reliable pass catchers if we are being honest.

He could have 30 minutes in the pocket and he wouldn’t throw it deep. Miami barley touched him last week

Pickett is right about one thing. If they can’t run the ball and have to pass it 45 or 50 times you increase the chances of making mistakes when the defense knows what’s coming. Having a competent running game would help the kid out.
Of course when the defense is ass and cannot stop a nosebleed it puts more pressure on the QB. I think he has tried to do to much at times and it has come back to hurt him. He has been unlucky at times with the turnovers like the INT late in the game.

You keep saying that about every QB under Canada.

First you blamed Roth for having a dead arm and not being able to go deep (except ya know, when he was calling the plays).

Then you blamed MT for being too scared to go deep.

Now it’s KP can’t go deep.

Let’s ignore the players are now calling out the playcalling to.

There is one universal individual in all of this.

Hint: The guy you told me was a good OC.

I went over this last week, but you don’t want a young QB throwing the ball 35+ times a game.

It almost always leads to turnovers and losses.

They can’t run the ball though, so this is likely going to keep happening.

Just because he was barely touched doesn't mean he wasn't rushed, given time to allow the receivers to get open. He was forced to dink and dump...
No he chosen to dink and dunk Tomlin let him go no huddle against Miami and against the Eagles from the start and he chose the dump offs.

Let them fire Canada I don’t care I said his play calling has sucked for a few weeks. I love his offense on paper we saw Philly Buffalo Miami all use the same concepts much better. KP competed 2 passes over 10 yards today we already knew MT sucked throwing 20 yards down field before he was signed

Seems like you either took a sucker’s bet and knew it, or something else isn’t lining up here about what you thought you knew.

A few weeks?!

That won’t be the logic they use, it will be because they “don’t fire guys mid-season”.

I’ve lost count how many times this offense has failed to score even 20 points under Canada.

He’s been the one constant through the last 26 games.

Totally bizarre how this org just allows ineptness to confuse without consequences.

Canada is useful to Tomlin and Rooney as the sacrifice to pretend that they make changes in the off-season.

He is the Kevin McClatchy of the Steelers.

I thought Pickett would be at worst mac jones if he had to start with a floor of Tua. I didn’t think he would be playing like duck. Wish he could put up 2019 mason 7 tds 2 interceptions and look like he is getting better. He was the most pro read Qb in the draft.
If he sat I expected MT could look like his college self using RPo and maybe lead us to 24 points a game.
Still if Tj was healthy they win the jets pats and dolphins game and the bet is fine.

It will not matter cause they will bring in a guy with similar tendencies as Canada and it still comes to down to players making plays

So the other take away from Pickett's PC is quote: "we're not detailed enough, we don't study enough as a group"

Excuse me, So what is Tomlins job?
He is the Qb Brady never needed the coaches to get his team together for film study or practice

SMH. It's the job of the head coach to put that together.

Saying Pickett is a bust after 4 games is dumb but holy f*** comparing him to Peyton Manning, Troy Aikman and Terry Bradshaw needs to stop.

None of those guys played their rookie season in an era of football that totally caters to passing offense. Yes, everything around Pickett sucks, but comparing him to 3 hall of famers as rookies needs to stop.
But but but don’t forget about Marino.

Jones had you know, good coaching.

It matters. A lot.

Roth isn’t here to hide that glaring deficiency anymore, even though you refuse to acknowledge that, the reality still stands.

The mistake with drafting Pickett was that they drafted him under the assumption that they were close to contending and Trubisky could hold the fort until Pickett was ready. This team is showing that they have many substantial issues on the roster and are far away from being a legitimate playoff team.

If you want to point out a flaw in the Pickett pick, it should be that they went after a NFL ready QB when they had a ton of holes and a bad roster.

He's a damn rookie, what are you expecting out of a rookie QB?

Anyone expecting above average QB play from a rookie is delusional. It is incredibly rare to get a great QB performance out of a rookie in the NFL.
It would be cool if Kenny could score more than 10-15 points.

No the nfl doesn’t allow them to spend a ton of time with head coaches the nflpa didn’t want its players to be forced to live at the facility. They give players I pads to watch film at home
