The Harris, Bush and Pickett picks are gonna set the franchise back years.
They already have.
What's worse than the lack of return ability wise on those three though, is that none of them were the smart pick at the time.
Middle linebacker is not as important of a position as the lines, cb's, etc. They picked him because they were enamored with what they lost with Shazier, but many successful teams don't have as good a player as Shazier at middle linebacker and do well. It was a stupid decision before they even decided to trade assets to move up.
I shouldn't have to say anything at this point about drafting runningbacks in the 1st round.
They drafted PIckett because he went to Pitt and they were familiar with him. They were at the time and probably still are under the delusion this team isn't 3-4 maybe more years of rebuilding away from competing again. By the time the rest of the team is rebuilt, Watt will be old, Heyward will be gone, same with Minkah, etc. and Pickett will either be good or bad but nearing his 30's already regardless.
Their draft strategy the past half decade has entirely revolved around not knowing what they would be capable of in the last years of Ben's career, and it looks like they made the wrong choices damn near every turn in the 1st round at least.
And jesus another pick, even if tipped. Guy's gonna be nearing some all time bad stats territory by the end of the year if this keeps up.
As long as they end with a top 5 pick though I don't care.
