Why do you post so much about the Steelers if you aren’t even a Steelers fan?
Because it’s an open forum to discuss the team and I live in Pittsburgh. I also actually enjoy discussing the team with most posters on here because they actually have good discussions. Why does it bother you so much that I post about them?

It doesn’t really bother me. I just find it a little strange

How can you be losing confidence in a guy who hasn’t thrown a single TD pass in the second half since taking over as a starter…and has thrown 6 interceptions… 6 of his 8 interceptions have been in the second half of games

It’s almost like I don’t care about the crap results of this team and am focusing on how Pickett is playing.

This team is awful and Pickett is being put in a position to fail.

The Harris, Bush and Pickett picks are gonna set the franchise back years.

They already have.

What's worse than the lack of return ability wise on those three though, is that none of them were the smart pick at the time.

Middle linebacker is not as important of a position as the lines, cb's, etc. They picked him because they were enamored with what they lost with Shazier, but many successful teams don't have as good a player as Shazier at middle linebacker and do well. It was a stupid decision before they even decided to trade assets to move up.

I shouldn't have to say anything at this point about drafting runningbacks in the 1st round.

They drafted PIckett because he went to Pitt and they were familiar with him. They were at the time and probably still are under the delusion this team isn't 3-4 maybe more years of rebuilding away from competing again. By the time the rest of the team is rebuilt, Watt will be old, Heyward will be gone, same with Minkah, etc. and Pickett will either be good or bad but nearing his 30's already regardless.

Their draft strategy the past half decade has entirely revolved around not knowing what they would be capable of in the last years of Ben's career, and it looks like they made the wrong choices damn near every turn in the 1st round at least.

And jesus another pick, even if tipped. Guy's gonna be nearing some all time bad stats territory by the end of the year if this keeps up.

As long as they end with a top 5 pick though I don't care.

That is the most important question of many.

Although as I said they are going to play a number of teams with crappy records. They could win three or four of those. So screw themselves out of a top pick.

I’d say keeping things the same and expecting different results after 26 games and 3 different QBs is mental midget level shit.
I think you are taking my comment the wrong way, but I expect nothing less from the crowd here.

Careful I pointed this out before his first start and got lectured on how life isn’t fair and Pickett has to put up or shut up.

They spent a 1st on a guy and threw him to the wolves which is one of the most sure fire ways of ruining them.

Almost all rookie QBs go through this, the legendary ones and the just a guy types.

Just like fans almost always turn on rookie QBs because they don’t have the mindset to deal with watching a guy develop or not.

it’s exactly why Bradshaw hates Yinzer Nation 50 years later.

Already happening to KP, which was an easy prediction several weeks back.

This town has turned on every Steelers QB, even the SB winning ones.

It’s what they do.

I’m growing less confident in Pickett, but the bigger thing that concerns me is that this team isn’t going to develop Pickett right.

He’s a rookie who is surrounded with an awful team and awful coaches. You can’t even reasonably judge his ability too much because of how bad the situation is around him.

That's why the reason they gave for drafting him was poor justification for doing so, that he was the most nfl ready QB in the draft.

What point is there in PIckett supposedly being ready to start from day 1 because of all his starting experience in college, if he's walking into a team falling apart at the seams staring down a 3-4+ year rebuild.

The team's biggest problem outside coaching, roster construction, etc., is their seemingly inability to accurately self evaluate their own potential.

This team is not going to be ready to win a Super Bowl in the next few years, by the time they are, and if Pickett is still the starting QB, he'll be damn near 30.

Maybe he just isn’t as good as everyone thought he was. Do I think he’s in the best position? Not at all, Canada and Tomlin are buffoons who should be on the first bus out of Pittsburgh tomorrow. But he also hasn’t shown that he’a really anything other then average or below

I already went over an extensive list of rookie QBs who weren’t “ruined” by being thrown into the fire.

If a guy can’t handle adversity, he isn’t going to become a franchise guy.

It’s the fans who can’t seem to handle it IMHO.

Saying Pickett is a bust after 4 games is dumb but holy f*** comparing him to Peyton Manning, Troy Aikman and Terry Bradshaw needs to stop.

None of those guys played their rookie season in an era of football that totally caters to passing offense. Yes, everything around Pickett sucks, but comparing him to 3 hall of famers as rookies needs to stop.

The only argument for staying with Canada at this point, is trying to guarantee as much of a shot at a top 5 draft pick.

It surely isn't because the offense is one day going to magically click and work all of a sudden.

I mean he does have to perform. It’s not a perfect situation by any means, but he isn’t playing well either
