I am starting to reach Flyers apathy levels with this team....

Painful. I know it's early in the season but I'm having a hard time imagining how this team transforms into a good team. Everyone was so excited about the off-seasons signings but the only guy who has been even a little impressive is Melton. Perimeter defense is really bad. Remember when the Sixers could throw Simmons (I know, I know) and Matisse at teams? Yeah, those days are gone.

And as bad as the defense looks the offense is basically individual efforts by Embiid, Harden, and Maxey. Doc certainly deserves his share of the blame but this is Morey's team and it's not pretty.

Seems I was too optimistic. They'll still be the 3-5 seed but firing Doc wont plug the leaks alone.

Harden/Jo duo is just too slow baseline to baseline. Good teams will run roughshod.
When they can slow it down and make it a halfcourt shooting contest its fine but then their perimeter D gets exposed on the other end.

1 plus defender in the starting lineup (with questionable effort).
1 plus plus passer on the whole roster (with a non-optimal partner for PnR).

The real championship for this fanbase is Nov 22 tho. Thats all that really matters.

They definitely don't play as a team. Doc is not the one to make them at this point. He's running on fumes here. I don't think they are as bad as they look but yeah it's hard to see right now how they are going to compete against the athleticism and pace of the rest of the league.

It's crazy to think Harden looks back to form, and this team is a slop fest. I find it hard to blame him or his pace; it's disingenuous to say he hasn't been a bright spot. The schedule hasn't been easy early with top end teams, and it is early (Celtics were a tire fire early last season), and you can point to an unfit Embiid dragging them down the first 2 games.

Positive bench contributions would help. Harrell has 5 FGA on the season, and he's a known train wreck defensively. House is athletic, but there just hasn't been meat to his offensive game. You simply cannot have a team of Embiid and Harden without consistent catch and shoot threats -- and cuts. Where are they? It's not like it has helped them a lick defensively -- they are getting roasted on the perimeter and fundamentally suck in transition. I mean at what point can we just TRY inserting multiple of Matisse, Milton, even Kormaz? I'd say slap me, but slap Rivers first. They are simply lacking a momentum shifter there, on either end. Stops, 3 bursts, etc. I feel a bit tentative judging when no unit has an ounce of synchronicity or shot scheming. Maybe move PJ to the bench.

They are easily one of the least, if not the least, athletic teams in the league. At this point I would rather see Matisse, offensive shortcomings and all, in the starting lineup over Tucker. At least he can create offense from defense and play above the rim sometimes.

Doc says it is rare he looks forward to watching the film but he is looking forward to watching the film.....lmao! This guy is such a charlatan. Meanwhile, Nick Nurse keeps coaching circles around him.

I liked [Melton] with Harden and Maxey in preseason

Just to re-post this, I want to see more of this trio. They went to that a lot late in the 4th. You're getting speed, rim threats, and spacing -- and Melton can pick up slack defensively, even with that smaller lineup. I don't know the exact 5-man combination, but go to this well please.

Yeah, I was thinking that I'd like to see Melton out there in place of Tucker.

Scouts around the league have the impression so far that Ben is afraid to get fouled and go to the line for fear of missing foul shots. They also say that their impression is that he has been happy to foul out. I don't doubt any of this.....Ben Simmons hates playing basketball. I mean somebody who doesn't like shooting a basketball must hate the game...
