Post-Game Talk: The PGT where I didn’t even watch the game

At what point can I start advocating for Knob for the Jack Adams? The system and style this team plays is vastly different than the one that started the season. This team looks a lot more calm and organized, and I’ve never seen a coach that brings out the best in players the way he has.

Didn't understand the 5X either that Michaels called the Draisaitl goal a PP goal. He actually thought a delayed penalty goal is a PP goal. I'm like what?

I just want to shut the volume off sometimes.

We are now tied for 12th for wins, tied for 9th for regulation wins and 17th for points per game.

Unremarkable by itself, by considering we were 31st, it's pretty encouraging.

I don’t see why really.

I don’t watch enough of his post game interviews to know what his typically is like though.

As a fan I would get annoyed if he doesn’t answer questions on a routine basis though. Its sort of similar with Woodcroft where he didn’t provide any insight to decisions. Torts is obviously different but he’s not providing answers to anything either.

Jack eventually apologized for his blunder and said something about his brain being vaporized at the end of 2023. My guess is that happened to him decades ago. I’m with you. I can’t stand listening to him either. Louie Debrusk with his never ending support for the opposition is even worse. Comparing other Sportsnet regional crews, Oiler fans are getting the short end of the stick with these two.

I'm trying to parse that with Michaels saying the Drai goal was a PP goal several times. One has to sort through the confusion upon confusion.

Didnt hear the distinction within the loud Texas or whatever it is Jack Michaels brogue. half the time he's telling some kind of OT stories so I get used to tuning him out.

If there was ever a scheduled loss game, this was it. After New Year's, coming home, weird schedule the last couple of weeks.

Really impressed. Previous iterations of this team would have blown it and the PGT would be ugly.

This is what I was bracing myself for as well. Expected a low scoring 3-1 type loss where we got out hustled. Oiler teams since forever would have had that exact game in this situation.

I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but the sheer number of chronic problems that Knoblauch and Coffey have seemingly been able to fix are borderline incredible. Just off the top of my head, all these multi year traits that the team could never figure out are all of a sudden fixed:

- PK
- Shitty starts to games
- laying eggs against shitty teams
- uneven work rate game to game
- in zone and slot defending
- top to bottom battle level in all areas of the ice
- rush defending
- breakout passing
- detailed hockey in general
- Quality 5v5 hockey from all lines

The next test will be to see how long the team can maintain this level of focus and work rate. The three game losing streak was fueled by the classic Oiler immaturity IMO. They felt a little comfortable and they took their foot off the gas and lost focus of the details that were fueling their success. If he keeps these guys playing at this rate without significant drop off - look out. This sudden culture shift combined with goaltending (knock on wood) makes us the best team in the NHL.

I wonder if some of the reason for the “silence” is due to how terrible this site has been recently. Takes me several minutes to type out a post now between the page freezing, waiting for the words to finally appear after they’ve been typed and of course the page refreshing and then needing to exit the thread, reenter, scroll down to the bottom of a page and then hope some of what I had typed is still there. That is of course, if you’re not getting that ad for free cookware that takes you out of the site completely and makes you open another window only for it to appear again the next time you change the page.

Seriously though across the boards seems like drastically reduced posting activity. never seen it so low.

WE all despise CP but I wonder if it isn't something that should happen with the Oilers fanbase. Oilfans is long gone I think and maybe another board pops up. Would avoid the frustration of OOT trolling.

Ahhh. Yeah I'm not seeing that on the browser I'm using. I do get the you're using an adblocker message all the time. yeah I am, its the one thing not being blocked. The live threads are a mess though. I've opted out but it still screwed up as you don't see half the posts until later. I often don't see replies until after the game and the game is over and the thread closed.

Can't say the user experience here is that great now. Something odd about this season is its created some infighting. Like half the board figured the season was done and seemingly out of sorts.

Still think a fair number of people packed up the ball and aren't back again. Several people that were regulars say they hardly watch the games now. Lots of changes. Another thing is Canada tuning out the NHL increasingly? or sports in general.

Without McDrai I wonder how dead it would be in here.
