Man, if Bouchard misses his pinch on the pp at the end of the 2nd, Konecny is gone on a breakaway. Ballsyyyyyyy move and so glad he made the play. Game could have had a whole different look if Konecny scores and theyre down 3-2 instead of up.

Maybe one of the most impressive things about McDavid last night is that he played 16 minutes. So happy that Knoblauch is spreading the ice out especially for McDrai. Woodcroft had these guys burned out.
Perhaps McD was able to bring his brand of full tilt magic DUE to playing a manageable amount of minutes. I'd rather have even a star player know that his minutes will be limited, and that rest will be there, than have the same player think he's going to have to slog through 25mins and pace himself. Its interesting that even with McD we get more value with less minutes even though he seems to have an unstoppable engine.

The Decade of Darkness was almost a decade ago. Toxic fans don't get to use that anymore to continue to be toxic. Why should the pissy negative fans get a pass when they are never willing to give the positive fans a pass when the team is struggling?

That's the frustrating thing about this site, when the team is skidding the naysayers come out in full force shouting at the top of their lungs how stupid and naïve the fans that are trying to stay positive are, but yet when the team pulls it together those same naysayers are like "oh give us break" GTFOH.

the amount of lemmings on this site that just follow the lead of the loud-mouthed negativity pushers is unreal. those toxic posters yell and scream and their followers who just want to be part of the crowd jump in on that negativity and shout down, insult and belittle anyone who tries to be positive. Then those same toxic posters want people to then be ok with them because they come on here and say "it's great to be wrong", screw that, and f**k taking the high road, you get what you give.
Tell me how you really feel.

The balance on this team is really good right now. All the guys that were question marks have been without question, much improved....well except Brown. I think Ekholm's improved health has been great for the D, McDavid over his early season knock. McLeod implemented on Drai's line has been an epiphany. Skinner solid with the improved D in front of him.

Love the trajectory. Hope it continues.

Some of it is context. Some posters have balance, some are always negative, some are always positive. Human nature. When Bouch was a defensive shitshow, I would continuously point it out. When McLeod was bad...well, he was really bad. Right now, they are both playing great. As long as people are fair with their takes, I don't really care if it is negative or positive.

Guy is growing in leaps and bounds. its great to see. I think Booch loses that battle earlier in career and instead he made a vet player look stupid and cost his team dearly. That was the game at the moment. Torts called it out too. He made no disguise of doing that, and his frustration with that play.

He was there on the ice hi fiving everyone and yes that shitbag Hathaway running around in the final seconds like the idiot he is.
Was this the great Garnet Hathaway that dEbrusk spent the whole broadcast turd polishing? he missed most of the game and I thought Debrusk would cry about it.

Deslauriers wasn't dressed so thats maybe another reason why, plus Torts really isn't that kind of coach. He is blunt as hell with his players and abrasive with the media but he's never struck me as a goon coach. The Vancouver Calgary brawl was Hartley being Hartley and the Flames being the Flames.
Deslauriers was the other great player that Debrusk spent so much time talking about. lol. As if the Flyers were missing two great players or something. Not the worst meathead lunchbuckets on the team.

Time for Debrusk to find another job. Bad as Michaels is Debrusk is lately seeming worse.

I get that this board has an Edmonton slant in all things, but I look at it from the opposite angle. Bouchard's decision to pinch there wasn't especially egregious. Konecny's choice was hyper aggressive and it cost the Flyers the game.

Dude assumed he was gone before he touched the puck at all. If any of our forwards jumped the play the way he did here they would have been torn to shreds on this board.

I don't mind Louie's analysis, except when he goes back and beats the drum for the pugilist union. Guys who were knuckle chuckers, or are old school, (Struddy, Louie, Stauffer) wax poetic about those types of guys often.

Exactly. So much talk about their own pugilist union that they kind of forget theres a game on. If I'm being honest Debrusk ate more than anybody should as well. Seems like a nice guy, every indication he is, but no longer the sharpest pencil. He does have his moments and things I feel he brings at times. Not consistent though. Overall we have a poor broadcast crew. Principe does his part as host but a little over the top.

Conversely, I really like him when he is on Stauffer's show. I would generally offer Louie a passing grade. He isn't Ferraro but he isn't Remenda either.

Thing I liked most is after Philly tied it 2-2 (and they really had no business with the game being tied imo) The Oilers didn't sag/giveup or whatever you want to call it.

They just kept at it and eventually the damn broke. I guess that's confidence. I can't think of a single player who wasn't contributing in some fashion imo.

Really nice game to enjoy. Keep it up boys! Especially 4th game in 6 nights I believe?

This team has had countless “lessons” in the past that they never seemed truly capable of learning from. Maybe the start to this season was finally the shock to the system that actually landed with this group and fueled a newfound focus.

I think the group truly liked Woodcroft and the fact that they all knew that they got him fired was enough to say “never again.”
I think they all enjoyed the Country Club lifestyle a bit too much.

It was one heaping mess of a play by Konecny who should know better. He really let his team down there and got schooled by a very young D. To do that play on a pk at a critical juncture of a roadgame tied 2-2. he should get yanked from pk or made to apologize. ;)

Maybe right some lines...do they still do that? ;)

Yep. Like can be overrated. Its not necessary to always like the people at work. Its necessary to respect them and the workplace. Much different things.

I like KK, but thats maybe bias too as he's the sort of individual, composed, calm, fair, that I could really respect in real life and feel secure around. he would have my trust.

Its a strong contrast from somebody like Eakins who never had my trust for a moment.

You're more extroverted. heh

Michaels is like way loud even without alcohol. or....

jk aside I could see him being some fun at parties. I prefer Gene.

It was a rhetorical question. Just mocking Debrusks take throughout the broadcast that the Flyers were really missing teh contributions of two knuckle draggers. As if it would've made a difference.

Other than the Tampa game, Stu has been really good since Knob came into the fold. Another big move that coincides - Campbell being sent down.

I maintain that the Campbell demotion is acting similar to the Puljujarvi trade last year. Just having the distraction gone is good for the team. The record in both cases supports this.

There's still been a few stinkers (particularly the two Tampa games), but the frequency has dropped since the San Jose game (first game post Campbell demotion). In 18 appearance since then, he's had 12 games over .900 and only 3 sub .850 appearance.

Much better than the first 8 appearances with 4 games below .850 and only 2 above .900.

He's now 31 saves shy of .900, so a couple more games like the last four, he could finally get back to .900.

I still don't trust him to lead us on a deep run, but at least he seems to have stabilized to the point where he isn't costing the team games anymore (the two Tampa games excluded).

Agreed. I think they can come up with something better lol.

I think this was Woodys last gift to the team. I like the innovation of having 2 separate awards for this group so that grinders get their due, but I have to agree that these particular trophies are lame as hell. Maybe next year they'll invest in something from Wal-Mart at least instead of the Dollar Store.

Agreed. that is how rational discussions happen. it's the shouting down of people who have different viewpoints of the players, or how the team is doing if it has even a remotely positive spin on it that is so frustrating.
