More like the last 12 games.
He was putting up basically first line numbers before the half way point of last year's shortened season, if you want to split hairs and talk about him playing at a PPG pace which even us Eller fanboys know is not going to be sustained than sure, but that's being pedantic.
That's why this past weekends Denver Dallas game is being heralded as one of the most entertAining games in history. 99 points and absolutely no defence.
People don't go to games to watch defence.
Most hardcore NFL fans I know, as in the type to watch as many games as possible instead of just their own team when they are winning, including Denver fans, thought that game was entertaining but not a good representative of football and are concerned that the NFL has gone too far in making it a pass-happy league. ESPN NY radio yesterday was complaining about the "CFLification" of the NFL. Personally, I love games like that, but I'm pretty casual when it comes to throwball, and even then if every game was like that it would really dumb down the experience in my opinion.
Of course those kind of shootouts will appeal to the casual fan, and that's where the money is, so I'm afraid the NHL will continue to neuter goalies so every game has 10 goals.
One of the reasons soccer is my favourite sport is because every goal matters, and even though I like basketball, I do agree that games between good teams basically come down to the last few minutes and everything before that is meaningless. The NFL has become increasingly like that too, and I'm beginning to worry the NHL is heading in that direction.
