The Big10 went 6-4, the SEC 5-6. The SEC will win the championship again and have a 6-7 bowl record even with both teams in the final. The Big 12 is 4-2. The American is 3-1.
Conference bowl records are interesting as they can be used as a metric but don't always really tell a great story. One might think the Big 10 is better than the SEC simply based on the bowl record. With that said we also know that Georgia beat Michigan, Kentucky beat Iowa, and Arkansas beat Penn State. Purdue did beat Tennessee in OT.
What is really interesting is that the SEC was bad (winless) in the earlier bowl games but very good starting December 30th. 5-2 if my count is accurate, though that Ole Miss loss should definitely come with a huge * considering the Corral injury.
Considering the games before December 30th would be an interesting thing to examine as well. I'm guessing a lot of those SEC teams were playing against better teams. I mean would it really shock anyone to learn that Florida lost to UCF? That Houston beat Auburn?
