Sorry for my "ilippe Myers - Tyler My" post but it would be an scary outcome for us in the Western World.

I’m glad that Phillipe Myers - Tyler Myers got moved here because even thinking about it is basically a hate crime.

I have no idea how that include as a partial quote but it's a disgusting idea that should require an immediate forum ban.

can't see how your post can be considered "disrespectful" to anyone. It is very fair comment. After having lived in the US for 15 years, and putting our house up for sale the day after the tangerine turd got elected, and moving to Canada as soon as we could, believe me, the racism in the US is worse than anyone would believe just watching the politically correct news.

It wasn't. That's just a blanket early warning to everyone since political discussion always degenerate into thread bans and warnings. You two are perfectly fine and I came away learning something about the Iowa polls.

What is amazing is how ignorant a lot of Americans are about their own system. They keep spout land of the "free" etc and then not to have a clue about how the process works. My wife taught History for 25 years in California, and a lot tf that was about teaching kids about the US constitution. She constantly hears US politicians make remarks that her grade 8 would know is wrong. She was also surprised at how much more I knew about US system of government than most Americans. Then again, I know a lot about 20 - 30 obscure subjects like hockey history, plate tectonics and tsunamis, not including fascination with concrete and gravel as a result of being an engineer.

Clearly at this point nothing's going back to normal if Trump loses, and some of the animus of his supporters will simply be redirected elsewhere, but I'd just like to not have to stare the reality of President Trump in the face for another four years. It's like having the Kool-aid pitcher for president or something. It's so bizarre that it sucks all the world's attention and mental energy. And if he loses, that part of it at least is over. He'll go off and die somewhere within a few years. We'll probably have to entertain other lies and distortions from the people who follow in his footsteps, but maybe things will start going the other way. And ... I just won't have to think about this stupid shit anymore. Conservatives think (or say they think) "Trump Derangement Syndrome" is blind hatred but it's more considered -- it's largely just people astonished and unnerved that some so pathetic and failed as a person could be admired by so many of us. It would be wonderful to stop having to think about that, even if it doesn't really make our political reality immediately way better.

We'll see what happens but I have a hard time seeing how the election can be close. Without taking an avid interest and digging into polling this election cycle. Polling used to be the domain of math nerds and from what I recall they got really good for 2008 and 2012, but they had a mishap in 2016 and since then I feel have been corrupted by politics & money. There's been a lot of 'the polls say our opponents going to win? Well then we need our own polls that say we will win!' going on, with billionaires taking a vested interest and sinking a lot of money in the election. Not to mention the gambling, which with the rise of online gambling through sports betting on elections has risen with it.

Basically it used to be the media that always had a vested interest in making any election look like a close horse race, as a blowout isn't going to pull in the same ratings. Now I feel like this mindset has effected polling in the US as well. While so many thought Clinton wasn't going to lose the 2016 election, in hindsight she was a known quantity with lots of baggage and ran a pretty bad campaign, while Trump was new to the political scene and had lots of enthusiasm. And even then the election basically came down to a few thousand votes in 3 states, I believe Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, that Clinton thought was a safe Democrat vote and never bothered campaigning in.

For 2024 the weirdness of the Electoral College aside the Harris campaign looks to be the one that has everything going for it.

Just a reminder that Comey told the press the FBI would reopen the investigation against Hilary 11 days before the election in 2016.
