Today and tomorrow is the Soi 6 Street festival so should be a madhouse as we're talking 55 bars and over 700 girls. Only about 30 out of the 55 bars are full on participants with drink specials and or food for balloon chasers. The guys are here just before 6am to put the hog on the spit so will be roasting that up with accoutrements, now I just need the maintenence to arrive so I can go back home

There's a poster on here named @Hunter Gathers
Maybe you two should meet?

Sapiens and Homo Deus are fascinating books- great history of humanity, but they also basically argue that it’s been mistake after mistake since the agricultural revolution. Hard to argue against, at a certain point. I wish I could live off the land at this point, but f***wits have bought it all. Be right back, movin onto Gates’ acres.

In a "that escalated quickly" moment recently: I was told I'd have to have a couple of teeth pulled (a wisdom tooth & one other). Had some real bad pain on vacation, so I called the oral surgeon and asked if they could get me in for the consultation sooner (it was originally scheduled for Flag Day). They could, so I went a couple of Wednesdays ago on my day off from work.

The doc looks at things for maybe 45 seconds & says "We can take care of this today, no sweat." So here I am, down 20 IQ points. The recovery's not been bad at all. Minimal pain, no swelling to speak of. Did not miss any work. No dry socket. I'm incredibly lucky.

Wow. It's cool that it went so quickly since most often it is the opposite - need to see someone and the next available is half past 10 the day after energy death of the universe. Glad to hear it isn't painful. I had all of my wisdom teeth done at once and every time I sneezed, it was excruciating.

The last time I had a wisdom tooth pulled, I went to work 30 minutes later. It was annoying for a couple of days not being able to smoke and trying to keep food out of the hole, but it was fine.

Of course I only had 1/4 removed, because the rest would have involved surgery instead of just a shot and yank, and there was no need to do that

I had to have two chiseled out. When they gave me the gas and the IV, I recall taking a massive hit of it and the nurse saying "No, no, just breathe normally." I replied, "I paid for this, didn't I?"

Her and the anesthetist both laughed.

Same with the 1/4 and going back to work, then my boss told me to just go home  Didn't get any gas but the dental school student (couldn't afford insurance, despite working for the second largest commercial office services company at the time, 'MURICA!) kept chiseling away with little luck. So they doubled me up on Novocaine and the supervising dentician (orthodontist? Whatever a tooth dr is) came in to fix the mistake. I looked like a stroke victim for the next 10 hours and was so paranoid about dry socket I didn't touch a straw for 6 months.

I got “why are you here?” and then told to go sand off the excess drywall mud off the walls. I had a dentist who just got out of school, same with all of her assistants. I gotta admit I had no problem with 4 attractive women fawning over a 28 year old single me at the time .

It took me from my initial appointment in December until May for a cracked tooth to get pulled out. The dentist tried to save it with a root canal - an out of pocket expense, of course, because dental insurance is bullshit - and then had to pull it anyway. 5 months of agony.

Unrelated: I'm nearly to 60 uploaded videos on my YT channel. Scheduling stuff out to mid-August already. It feels really good to have a project like this that is fun and I can get ahead of. The one thing that I'm delaying on is Magic videos, because I'm not sure if I should talk or do music. An upcoming vid has music and I want viewer feedback on what people prefer before proceeding.

I’ve had two leg surgeries, broke my collarbone a bunch- wisdom teeth were the most uncomfortable, and the only time I needed to request more “stuff”. Just Novocain, but I also got a good dose of laughing gas. Just tuned into Joe satriani’s “surfing with the alien”, it felt like sonic the hedgehog was in my mouth, is my memorable analogy. But ya, I could also feel the f***in saw on a nerve so had to get more numbed up. Not the most fun.

I also love how weird they are with you afterwards. I get it, some people are really zonked, but they treated a curb like a descent from Everest on the way to my ma’s car.

I found a dentist who has secretaries who do everything possible to get me in ASAP if I have an emergent case. They won my loyalty for life!

Here’s a really good explanation of how the game of cricket works. I really don’t understand why North Americans find it so confusing.

Written during the Botterill era, inspired by some Philip K Dick books. Pretty happy about the last minute:

This made me laugh. I love spicy food but have to tell the pure Thai hole in the wall eateries maio pet or I swear they try to kill me.

I used to love spicy food. It just kills my stomach these days. There’s a pizza chain here called Hell that used to make the certified spiciest pizza on the planet. If you could eat a small pizza they’d give it to you for free. Two of my mates could do it. I wouldn’t even try anymore.

I used to work for Hell well before they started this idea, and the two mates are also ex-Hell staff.

I used to spice test filipinas by giving them a slice of pickled jalapeños, most would gasp and say it's too hot. Tried it with a Thai, she ate my whole jar and asked for more.

I like spice, that nice burn to waken your taste buds is great, I hate when it over powers everything as that just makes it a core

I went out for Indian curry with my team from work. This other guy (friend of a friend) tagged along and when me and my boss ordered Vindaloo he asked what it was, we answered honestly and then he goes “yeah I’ll try that”. The guy didn’t even like spicy food so it was so entertaining for everyone else to watch him sweating so much he looked like he’d die of dehydration.

I love vindaloo. I can't eat it, but I do love it.

I'm not much of a soccer fan, but Messi is a much better player than Beckham, no? Pele, on the other hand, may be slightly ahead of him, but is there a conversation to be had that Messi=Pele?

I have a few friends who watch soccer, and their general consensus seems to be the Messi>Rinaldo and that Messi is one of the best ever...if not the best, but maybe that's recency bias.
Messi has done enough and over such a long time that he can be titled best of all time. I don't like him but he's done it all.
Maybe you could debate peak Pelé, Maradona etc but when it comes to a career he's at the top.
