(Hint, -40° is -40° for both Celsius and Fahrenheit scale.)

Well it would be -40x2+30=y
-80+30=-50

Is how the math operations would go.
Honestly, that's close enough. If you ask anyone around here, the temperature doesn't really matter once it is below -25. Anything below that you dress the same and it is cold.

It is a very dry cold however which is better than when it gets very cold in more humid areas. It felt colder living in toronto when you get a polar vortex that takes it down to -25 than it does here at -40. But I suppose I also didn't own the outdoor clothes that I have here when I lived in Toronto.

Thats pretty much how I feel when it hits 110 and above.

Here it’s humid all winter, and the cold sucks. It gets deep in you, no matter how well you dress. A -30 here means you go inside every couple of hours to warm up. 10 hours north of here, I’d spend an entire 12 hour shift outside when it was -45.

Exactly, they keep coming up with new ways to pay less and less. After Katrina the scam was on full display.
The Christchurch earthquake did it here. Insurance companies realised in a big natural disaster they didn’t actually have the reserves to pay people. We had insured homeowners waiting years for payouts.

Lo and behold, our house insurance premiums have quadrupled over the last decade.

At least it makes more sense for us with earthquakes as it’s a possibility anywhere in the country. Flood levies on people not living in a flood plain sounds daft.

The one thing I remember about that was that it destroyed AMI Stadium and Crusaders ended up building a temporary stadium that has ended up becoming permanent.

Good point, an earthquake can strike almost anywhere in a region. I'd be pissed off having to pay flood premiums when my neighborhood hasn't flooded in generations if at all. It's just a money grab by the insurance co.

What are grits?

For any Lord of the Rings nerds out there (I count myself as one) … I’m taking my family out to Rivendell today. The weather is amazing, we’ll take some BBQ stuff, go for a swim. Should be stellar.

Think polenta. In this case prepped with cheese and garlic and then drowned in Cajun style shrimp and red gravy (coffee based).

But...if you married Italian, even dated Italian...you asked for it. Unless you're Italian, they're for gawking at only.

Not just Italian... Sicilian. And then I momentarily, ummm, "dated" another. My ex's grandfather talked about how he managed to not wind up in the Gambino part of the family by sticking to playing jazz professionally with his brother. Things could have been very different. Which also reminds me of this tune...
