Huh...
The boy was the mayor of Tofino in the 1980s.
He certainly made something of himself.

I'm born and raised in the Lower Mainland. Thought I knew pretty-much everything there was to know about the history of BC, but I had never heard of this.

I saw a documentary about it on PBS...
Of all places.

Unfortunately...
After the treaties were signed...
And there were more contact between the two groups...
The Aboriginal people there suffered the same fate as many of the other Aboriginals...
And communities were wiped out by diseases...
Rather than warfare.

I do not understand the popularity of Drake...
Nor his music...
But he does feature Canadian content in his music videos.
In the last video I saw...
He wore a Shopper's Drug Mart uniform.
I thought that was kind of cool...
Though I did not like the song.

That's how I learned about it too. Watching the documentary now.

For anyone who is interested it repeats tonight (early Tuesday morning actually) on PBS (KCTS-9) at 2:00 am.

PBS makes good documentaries.
I saw one on Henry Ford...
That was quite excellent.

Mango Pineapple smoothies from McDonalds are delicious, but I have recently figured out that each one has 12 teaspoons of sugar in it. Still love them, but I should have known better thinking that something from Mc Ds is decent for you

Pro tip: everything from fast food restaurants is unhealthy.

It's perfect out in the mornings anyways, I find around noon it sometimes gets a little unbearable.

-I should have known. Never again

That's what I've been doing - been playing a lot of basketball, baseball with my buddies. Pick up games like that are fun.

I have been golfing mostly, and finishing up the lacrosse season. Never really got into Basketball, but it sounds fun

I was never all that interested in playing Basketball either because I had no idea to defend - now I kind of have an idea, well, a good enough idea to play that is. It's fun.

Basketball is lacrosse without sticks and crosschecking

the strategy is remarkably similar, swing the ball around the outside and cut/pick/roll through the middle

I know, one of my old coaches had never played lacrosse, but rather was a huge basketball junkie. I find that most people who don't know a ton about lacrosse think it's like hockey when it is actually a more physical version of basketball.

The plays and setup of offense is identical. The only difference is the offense/defense system in lacrosse when in basketball players have to play both ends of the course IIRC.

The main problem I had with Basketball is that my shooting is terrible, I was not tall growing up, and I couldn't play D (I would get too many fouls)
