heck
I used to be great at basketball, and I had a huge advantage as a kid since I grew earlier/faster than other kids my age.
And then my knees and hip decided that I should be an old man at the age of 17...

right there with you :s

a good fitness routine does wonders though! (being 6'6" doesn't hurt either for keeping an advantage on the court :D)

I was like 5 foot 8 for most of high school until grade 12 so.. ya

Yeah, height is kind of a requirement for basketball which sucks for a lot of people. After I turned 14 I stopped growing for a couple of years, and I didn't have a huge advantage anymore (but I was still good, I practiced a lot).

Basketball was the sport I am marginally good at.
I had no height, speed, strength or basketball IQ...
So I spent all my time working on my jump shot.

I have not played in a couple of years...
But in my best days...
I had a perfect arch on my jump shot...
And I can just shoot from any angle.

I even practised the hook shot...
Which was very useful when I was in the low post...
And I was able to fool more than one person with it.
The sight of someone blocking in the wrong direction...
That was the best.

I was only able to do it once in a while though...
Because I do not have the strength...
Or height...
In the low post...
And when people catch on...
The joke will be on me.

Trader Joe's...
The best.

Too bad someone dented my car...
Both the front and back door.

It's a flying insect massacre in my room tonight. So far 2 unidentified flying ****ers have been killed. One mosquito is laying low for now and there will be more to come.

If you want guts...you got it.

People who order low-sugar/light/low-fat frapps are hypocrites. What's the point of drinking a frapp if you want to be on a diet?

The best part of basketball was the trash talking. It's more in-depth than in hockey because you're checking the same guy in close proximity for like 5-10 minutes straight. There's a lot more time to do some psychological damage

Probably the same as drinking a frapp if you're not on a diet: it tastes good ;)

I hear you though, if you're watching calories there's nothing more pointless than indulging in sugar loaded beverages. At least if it's high fat it will keep you satiated for longer, sugar does nothing to fill you up.

I get people calculating the exact calories of frapps and I wonder: why the hell are you drinking this then?!

Cookie Butter...
I think I found the gateway food into food addiction.
It is the nectar from the gods.
:amazed:

As of this moment...
I have a jar in one hand...
Spoon in the other.
I am typing with my pinkie...
Perhaps I should learn to type with my feet.
That way...
I would not break away from the jar.

I am so weak...
But it is so good.

With a diet you're not necessarily just trying to cut out all the crap that you eat, you're setting a caloric intake level and trying to stick to it. If some people feel the need to incorporate frapps in there I would have a hard time begrudging them, as I do the same with booze when I'm cutting. However they (and me, too) are definitely making it harder for themselves with ****** drink choices.

I have no idea how people go on health diets. These people probably have more willpower in their finger than I do in my entire body. Sad part is, my health later on will depend on a new diet. I'd rather eat cow and live 40 years than eat cow food and live 80.

Moms are one of the three things that are off limits in basketball trash talk, or so I learned from Jalen

The list reads:
1) Wives/girlfriends/fiancees
2) Kids
3) Moms/grandmas

Like Bill Simmons I also fall into the "fun" trash talking category, not the "volatile one like KG and Payton.

And just because I can't contain my love for Jalen, here's another good trash talking story:

It should be...
But not everyone is a gentleman.
I heard some really good ones too...
[spoil]Yo mama is like the Bermuda triangle...
Cause she swallows thousands of seaman everyday.[/spoil]
That one I still use once in a while.

Plus...
I think the loophole is that everything goes...
When it is not in English...
Quite possibly because one side has no idea what the other person said.
I think that it is akin to Tikkanese.

It's really a lifestyle change moreso than a crash diet.

First things first, I believe counting calories to lose weight is a myth. For me at least it was when I started eliminating refined carbohydrates that I really noticed a change. I still eat tasty meals (love Mexican food and salsa). For example, tonight I had a salmon filet over some lettuce, a little bit of shredded cheese, tomatoes, jalapeños, and salsa. Very low carbs, rich in protein and omega 3. Add to that the 4 mile run I did earlier and it was a healthy dinner.

For lunch I had a turkey burger patty, a little bit of cheese, and water. For breakfast I still had a breakfast sandwich. In between meals I snacked on fruit, granola bars, and peanuts.

Mango Pineapple smoothies from McDonalds are delicious, but I have recently figured out that each one has 12 teaspoons of sugar in it. Still love them, but I should have known better thinking that something from Mc Ds is decent for you

12 tsp is what, 48g? That's not much more than the amount of sugar you'd get in half a litre of OJ..

Anyway don't get me wrong I'm not trying to say McD's is healthy or that those things aren't full of additives (I don't know but I wouldn't bet against it), but if you're going out and ordering a big old helping of juice&dairy it's going to be loaded with sugar even before they start "improving" on it.

People who order low-sugar/light/low-fat frapps are hypocrites. What's the point of drinking a frapp if you want to be on a diet?

Shrug. Maybe they just don't want to go whole hog on a 500+ calorie beverage.. that's crazy and if you're a five foot tall woman it's probably about what you should be consuming in a decent sized meal.

Skip the whipped cream and use non-fact milk and you're probably cutting that down by 1/3 or more.

Anyway you shouldn't be touching them if you're on a crash diet but if you just want to make sensible choices it's a reasonable option.

I don't drink them myself but I don't see it as hypocrisy.

It may be fairly normal with fruity drinks, but I just noticed that it puts a regular person way over their recommended daily limit for sugar. They are delicious though

Shamrock Shakes have 82 grams of sugar
