As a team looking at the future we are so much better situated than you are prepared to give credit for. Not having a first next year is fine when you consider that we have a real living #1 centre instead. As long as we can sign our big three we have a pretty sweet up and coming line up to join our pretty special top three players.

Unless the big 3 don't resign and we have taken a core that was in it's prime, was a goal away from SCF, and instead of adding to it, we tore it down and ended up trading away a generational player in his prime. A player that is so hard to get that several teams have never had a player as good as EK in their history. Has Arizona, Florida, Columbus, Carolina, Vancouver (Bure maybe???), Minnesota, etc, etc ever had a player as good as EK.

Not saying it was an easy job to keep Methot, retool Phaneuf/anderson/etc to keep it going and improve, but you keep trying while you have a player like EK. Washington didn't trade Ovechkin, they changed coaches, GMs, tried many different players, kept drafting and developing, etc. etc. the last thing you do is trade away the player that you go into a full rebuild in hopes (no guarantees) that you will acquire in the first place.

Maybe a better strategy would have been to keep that team together and happy until EK and Stone were signed long-term so that if the retool took a few rough years at least they would be forced to stick around. Because if they don't stick around then the team is no better off than ANY team in the league would be if they sold off their best players and went into a rebuild.

I hope they etch this trade on his tombstone.

He deserves to be remembered for this and this alone.

Imagine trading all those assets for Matt Duchene, and not getting anything even close to that in return for Erik Karlsson lmao. He gets 0 respect around the league

this team is a joke, entering the season with Stone and Duchene unsigned for next year and Cody Ceci as your #1D, with no 1st rounder in 2019 to look forward to.

Let's be honest, the only reason the inept waste of oxygen is GM is so someone can share blame with Melynk rather than all the hatred on his shoulders. What a pathetic excuse of a deal, how can you spin that in a positive way I'd love to see

If it took you think long to figure this out... well I'm sorry actually. Today probably sucks a lot more for you than me. I came to terms Karlsson would be leaving about 8 months ago so it doesn't really sting as much.
I knew that Karlsson was gone but i was hoping for better quality, i dont know i feel that we could of have better package for him. I feel empty inside. Im disappointed

I’ve been telling you all about how this guy is pure trash. We must now all accept Dorion needs to go!
No point in him going, Melynk has a carousel of useless wankers to run this franchise, you get rid of Dorion you just get another clueless yes man

I'd trust a 5 year old running a lemonade stand to do a better job.

Yeah, the thing with 5 year olds running lemonade stands is that they often have supervision around them. They have their parents, older siblings, grandparents, neighbours, family friends, etc. essentially a council of sorts to help guide them through their lemonade selling experience.

I was stupid enough to actually be excited about what the Sens would get for the greatest player in franchise history and in his prime. F Dorion.

We're in a good position to rebuild though. We only gave up a first round pick that's not lottery protected.

It's great. Everything is fine.

If you're an NHL GM you should be perfectly capable of not getting f***ed in the ass on literally every deal on your own.

I think some of you are being too hard on the GM for this trade. What other choice did he have but to trade Karlsson at this point? What sort of package were you expecting for a player with only 1 contract year left, who has hinted strongly at wanting to test the UFA waters rather than signing any extensions?

Go away comrade. Your propaganda is unwanted.
