Why can't I judge you if you're doing the same to me?

This is exactly what I mean.

It may be a revelation but you do not own the right to universal truth or objectivity.

You have no idea what my life is like, where I've been and what I've done. But based on some podcasts that I listen to, you're pretty sure you know.

Confident enough to lob a slur at me.

Personally, I'd rather get something actually accomplished through discussion and compromise than to yell loudly about how right I am and get nothing done at all.
Amen!

Not sure, when I look at podcasts, it shows 3 drive show hours yesterday, maybe slow ramp up, but not sure if they have enough hosts now.
They quite clearly dont have much to talk about right now, it makes sense to extend and shorten the hours based on the season. I just wish we werent getting Toronto radio to fill the gaps. Pretty sad that its come to that.

The Chris Johnston podcast, SDPN podcast and DFO Rundown with Frank Seravalli are all good imo

Every day Sens podcast is not bad either but can be hit or miss
I cant listen to any of the sens podcasts outside of coming in hot. The ones from fans are so hard to listen to for a multitude of reasons. Even coming in hot I find a little repatative but atleast its from professionals and players that played the game. None of the sens stuff thats covered isnt already in my hockey vocabulary for the most part. When it comes to hockey content I listen to 32 Thoughts, Missing Curfew and Spitting Chicklets. Its just alot better and more diverse, more comedy too. The interviews are great and you get information about the rest of the hockey world than just regurgitating Ottawa Senators news thats already beaten to death. I think it would be great for alot of posters to listen to former players with experience in the league.

I like RedHanded and Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History.

My personal outrage tend to fizzle when I consider not only how much better I have it than the bulk of humans who have ever lived, but how much better I have it than most people who currently live on this planet.

Things could be better, but they could be so much worse. I have better things to do than be outraged; like live my life the best I can for me and my family.

I accept that others feel differently, I just personally can only handle so much of it before it’s time for me to change the channel so to speak.

I’m trying to adopt this mindset. Super helpful to keep perspective!

By the way, will TSN1200 be sticking to this barebones show schedule with the one morning show until 10am, no programming for six hours, and then two hours with AJ from 4 to 6?

If so, I don't see how we can expect this station to stick around much longer. At this point the word "station" barely applies.
Please feel free to buy some advertising on TSN 1200

I would not be to sure of that

so someone will have to kidnap JR, AJ. Llyde, Creech, etc..

Replace them by a robot and have them broadcast over tsn1200 radio??????

So when 580 am, 1310 AM have their hosts, we cannot trust them?

Which would you rather, them or some Podcast?

When you hear a local radio personality, one that has been on for a number of years and on a local station, licensed by the CRTC, you can have some confidence of teh source.

When Lloyd, et all tell us their history, family, where they live, where they are born.. we can trust who they are and what their biases may be.

How much do you trust posters on here?

I like to read rather than podcasts. I find a podcast, I will only be half listening as I do stuff, or work. A book still takes you away to another spot. Currently I am in to rock biographies, I just love reading from the rock legends own words.

I think TSN Toronto has been doing this fornat for some time now. Live in the morning, Dan Patrick in the afternoon, and their afternoon show with Oneill and Company. It probably will go this way unless the Senators pony up big time.

It would not be hard , under Andlauer's new ownership, to spend some extra money and make a business case to keep the Senators buzz going, it may cost 100K for the whole season perhaps to have that 10-2 pm show?

It does need that.

It needs something even more simple. Tune it in...

Others will buy ads when the audience ship goes up... Say your friend Neil M if he sees TSN1200 getting a large enough audience to sell his properties.

Or your friend Jeff York, who will buy ads for his grocery stores.

By the way, my late wife was related to the wife of the original FarmBoy owner. Their Kid was a terrific cyclocross/road racer and organized triathlons in a small town near here.

Radio seems a lot like it's in the same state as physical media. There is a vocal minority very interested that may keep it alive as a niche product, but expecting the gen pop to ever go back in with any sort of significant quantity is highly unlikely. Corporations are moving on from the media delivery method too. It's just a landslide effect that can't be stopped imo.

Not having to listen to or watch ads is some of the best things about this generation of media. Being able to skip through it saves a lot of time and gets you straight to the content

For sure it is awesome. I still try to watch sports on an hour or so delay to be able to skip them all. No time for that shit. It does seem like in some ways we've gone backwards with that in some media delivery methods, but it's at least mostly easily ignored or overcome unlike traditional TV and Radio with their standard commercial breaks.

Choosing to oust Simmer was a mistake. He made the morning show far more entertaining and would dig into things fans responded to.

JR is ok but too same old , same old and very much within narrow lines.
Steve Lloyd is far to monotone and uninspiring. Nothing against the man.. just the part being played

Listen to TSN 1200 all you want, including the 20 mins of commercials per hour, the news and weather updates…. Leaving you about 25 to 30 mins of “content “ per hour… and that “Content“ gets repeated almost hourly….. plus listen on their schedule

I will stream/download podcasts, that I can Listen to, at the time of my choosing ….I can pause, rewind, and fast forward as I please, skip through commercials if any….. on my Schedule.

btw, you can download/stream TSN1200podcasts, sans commercial as well…@and listen anytime you choose….. there is a paradigm shift happening and you’re missing the bus if you’re keeping up with the changes.

Literal nonsense.

If you see the state of the world and are constantly outraged, you might be ingesting the wrong media

Oh damn, I guess I'm imagining the cost of living(food, gas, rent etc) skyrocketing as wages stagnate and Canada/US sends billions to Ukraine! Thanks for enlightening me lol.

Those businesses don't need radio anymore...

Andlauer can make a business case for it, not many others

everyone can, if the numbers are high enough.

Contrary to the myth, a centralized information source is businesses' best friend.

For years, my life was hugely driven by radio. My activities were generally governed by stuff I heard on radio: events in town, things to do, idea's in general

Also, scheduling. Tire change over, planting, re-do the drive way, etc.

All of this was either thanks to direct advertising, information embed in advertising or stuff I heard via the radio personnel.

JR talking about having to change the oil in his car, often would get me thinking about mine.. And so indirectly JR was advertising for: Mr. Lube, Oil Changers, and the 101 other places.

AJ talking about some movie, may get me to go watch it.

We are making a mistake. we are killing an entity that can and does serve the public.

Easy Dude,

You're angry and have taken pretty good shots at NyQuil.. a poster whose is relatively mild mannered and Ice-tray.. not mild mannered, but hardly a die hard Machiavelliest.

what has you so upset?

I have no interest in enlightening you. There are problems with the world and there have always been problems with the world. If one lives in a bubble that simply propagates fear and anger, there will be no enlightenment. We believe correcting the world by one particular way of thinking will solve these problems, but if it were that simple it would have happened a looong time ago.

Keeping people angry is a tactic...and it works

Morning show - 6-10
Drive show - 4-7

They are down to 2 hosts (JR/Lloyd), 1 PxP guy (AJ), 4 producers (Creech, Matt K., Walls and the kid).

Once the hockey season starts they have Walls on the road with 67s, AJ with the RedBlacks and they have to produce games and do postgame.

The station will likely be shut down just after the SC parade down Elgin in June 2026.

the ratings for Ottawa station in roughly 2019 had them at 3.5% share.

that was near the top. The best station was at 5.5 or so, there were tons at 3 or less.

How come all those stations are not collapsing like a house of cards? If they were in the top 10 and are closing, there was 33 stations on the list. why aren't 23 other stations gone as well?

or has their rating plummeted?

I’m just telling you they are shutting down. At least that’s what the station manager says.

Don't they pay Dean and Gord to call Senators games?

Gotta wonder what kinda bloated salaries those 2 buffoons pull down.
