Agreed. Fighting grows the game. No casual sports fan is just gonna tune in to see skating or a michigan goal. They will tune in and be interested if hockey goes back to like 2012 time range where nyr racked up around 80 fighting majors. The direction hockey is going in with it turning into euro figure skaters is not good for the bizz and growing the viewer base, rempe is the nhl’s wet dream right now. Folk hero, 6’8 guy in the leagues biggest market

The Rangers have 17 fighting majors this year. There are 12 other teams with more. It's not like the Rangers are in the running for goon team of the NHL. Minnesota by the way leads with 31.

Hope Bennett gets a hold of him tomorrow night. He can really throw 'em.
Sam Bennett? Not in the same weight class.

Funny enough, Rempe throwing that hit looks so similar to how Bennet throws his weight around

It was a 2 minutes charge at most.

Rempe is bringing views to the league, and casual fans coming to turn the games on. We need more of that.

If by "crank up" you mean eat four right hands in a row and call the refs in, then yes, he most certainly "cranked up Reave"

I like the kid but he relies on his size way too much, his fighting skill isn't great...3 L's in a row.
He has the lead on Hockey Fights: Matthew Rempe vs. Ryan Reaves, March 2, 2024 - New York Rangers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs | HockeyFights

Majority of Reaves punches hit his shoulder pads since he’s too tall. Once you really watch the fight you’ll see how Rempe cranked Reaves (like majority of the league nowadays, though)

This is just wrong. Reaves clearly landed more punches and very much more solid punches. Reaves is disliked and Rempe is the shiny new toy, some people can't remove bias and give objective opinions.

I agree, there's no way Rempe won that fight despite him having a visor allowing Reaves to only hit his chin. Reaves had 2-3 solid punches go off the visor. We've seen what happened to Rempe in fights when his helmet gets knocked off.

You'll be accused of being a Leafs fan/homer when you side with a Leafs player on anything.

I like a good fight but he should pick his spots better imo. He shouldn't fight every goon that is trying to stay relevant....
He hasn't done that yet. He has fought some top enforcers in the game. He trying to make a name for himself. He is learning already. He fought a more patient and more displined fight against Reaves. He is one tough kid.

People calling for a suspension are bananas. It was a shoulder to shoulder hit. Its not even penalty worthy
Definitely could call a charge.

Hockeyfights is the equivalent of HF Boards polls section. If you want to find out who has never been in a fight, go to Hockeyfights comment section,

Because Hockeyfight users are known for being so objective at choosing winners, didnt they have him winning over Delauriers too?

Rempe landed some light jabs, gassed out, received multiple right hand counters including one right on the button and declared he was done. Reaves landed the harder shots(would have landed more save for the visor) and Rempe declared he was done, that's 3 L's in a row for Rempe, move on.

About as clear a W as you'll see without a KO.

You literally posted a picture of Reaves hitting his shoulder pad lmao. Remp free in your head old man.

Forearm literally still on Rempe's chin from the follow through, are we sure you aren't the old one here, you seem senile and/or blind.

Even the Rangers announcers acknowledged Rempe was starting to take a beating at the end of the fight at the 40 second mark :

No real advantage that he had a visor covering half his face either right?
Nothing Rempe can do about that, Reaves knew it going into the fight.

Watch the fight closer, you’ll see Reaves only lands MAYBE one punch, the rest hit Rempe’s visor/shoulder pads.

Reaves is too small, and at his age, doesn’t have the athleticism to beat a 6’8 guy.

Rempe has Florida and St. Louis next so he likely gets a rest in the fighting department. Something tells me he will need it for the Devils in a week. They didn't go and get Kurtis MacDermid for nothing.

Edit: Forgot Florida had the willing Johan Gadjovich. Might not get much of a break.

FWIW Reaves was looking for the fight more than Rempe was. Not sure what you would have Rempe do here. Take a time out and unscrew the visor from his helmet? Just discard his helmet altogether? If Reaves isn't wearing a visor that's on him and he probably should. I get that Rempe's triggering for some but really he's just a big happy kid that plays physical hockey.
