Pretty different to compare a 21 year old who has been in the league less than two weeks and these dinosaur enforcers trying to cling to relevancy.

Probably a bit of both. The few remaining enforcers are probably using the hype around Rempe to try to gain some relevance, but Rempe is also playing a style that puts a target on his back. Don't know how many aggressive giraffes that can play a regular shift* there are waiting to break into the league, but a few more, and maybe there's an upswing in the super-heavy goons.

*Haven't seen enough to know if he falls into the "regular shift" category, but he doesn't have lead feet, plays with energy, and hasn't bled goals against yet.

Naw, taking a million strides and leaping up into a vulnerable player is a dirty hit. Its textbook charging and always will be. He's not bouncing off anything, he's elevating up and hes already in the air in both photos.

I’m not a fan of the charging part either. It happens every game and as a ranger fan I put this in that basket. I don’t blame Rempe because it’s par for the course. But also, it’s not hockey. But of course neither is fighting. I’m honestly torn. NHL is weird.

Tough Western Canadian kid willing to do whatever it takes to be an NHL regular.

He has so much heart and would be a fan favourite on any NHL team.

However, he’s clearly got a smashed up face and looks like he hurt his hand as well.

He has been doing that since he got back into the line up. The kid wants to make a name for himself that is why he is fighting. He had a choice and he made his decision.

I personally am not watching hockey to see baboons fight. This league is much better without neanderthals and with more skill expression.

He did not look scared at all. It was a staged fight and lacked any emotion or relevance to the moment imo but the kid loves what he is doing. I thought they were also supposed to take their helmets off to fight?

Charged and/or hit some guys, fought some guys and maybe won or lost a couple. Scored some points. Tall and gangly and awkward and young with an unknown ceiling. Or not.
Opinions are divided here and elsewhere on the kid.
However-
He's the most talked about player in the league right now. Not Mathews, not Bedard. Or McDavid or Nathan or Jack. He might even be the most talked about player in ANY league over the past week, no? Hell, the kids in my wife's middle school class were talking about him this week in RURAL SOUTH CAROLINA. Craziness.
Thusly, I ask myself this: Isn't this all a net gain for The Ice Hockey?
