FRIEND, THINK BIGThat would be incredible, but it’s more likely an either or scenario.

God, I hope he is right! It will be fun to watch.
Given how it usually goes, it will be neither of them
I look forward to the meltdown of people blaming Rogers cheapness when the reality is we probably have a contract out there more than double anything else we ever handed outI don't know what indications are being given that the Jays are or would be the favourites for Ohtani, but I'm excitedly optimistic yet the utmost prepared for the ultimate letdown when he signs with the Dodgers as has been expected all along.
I think it’s a least 3 times maybe 4 times bigger. Unless I’m mistaken, I think Springer’s $150M is the biggest deal the Jays have handed out.I look forward to the meltdown of people blaming Rogers cheapness when the reality is we probably have a contract out there more than double anything else we ever handed out
Yeah, in the EXTREMELY unlikely scenario that you somehow add both Ohtani and Soto, there's no way you move Vlad or Bo. You make those additions to load up and go for it, not to replace what you already have. MAYBE you think about moving one of them next offseason if it makes sense at that point.Well what’s the point of trading Vlad? Because he’s not signed longterm? Ditto Bo, but Bo actually has significant trade value.
Fwiw I’m not the one looking to trade either of them.
In that situation you go all in this year and risk losing Soto in FA knowing you still have a deadly core to make a push. After that its far enough into the future that many things can happen to keep a window open.Yeah, in the EXTREMELY unlikely scenario that you somehow add both Ohtani and Soto, there's no way you move Vlad or Bo. This is nothing more than a personal opinion, but my hunch would be of the two who would be more inclined to sign a long-term deal with the Jays, it'd be Vladdy.Well what’s the point of trading Vlad? Because he’s not signed longterm? Ditto Bo, but Bo actually has significant trade value.

Apparently, one of the things he really likes about the Jays is our training facility and I bet the thought of that facility after a potential second TJ is very attractive to him. We may not be the perfect fit but I can certainly see it being attractive to him. he is also legit buds with Kikuchi for whatever that's worth.Ohtani most likely signs with the Dodgers but I just went back and read some of the things that were said when he signed with the Angels.
• Signing with the Angels puts Ohtani near L.A. without actually being in the thick of L.A. So if we’re to believe that he values his privacy, as reports have suggested, Anaheim puts Ohtani close enough to Hollywood without being in the thick of Dodgers mania.
"While there has been much speculation about what would drive Shohei’s decision, what mattered to him most wasn’t market size, time zone or league but that he felt a true bond with the Angels. He sees this as the best environment to develop and reach the next level and attain his career goals. More than ever, I believe this is not only a special talent but a man of special character, and like everyone else I’m excited to see him in Major League Baseball.”
We really about to get one of Ohtani or Soto. Holy f***
For me,If we don't land Ohtani or Soto I hope we pivot to the law firm of Lee, Yamamoto, and Candelario.

Can't Ohtani pitch?Sign Ohtani, trade Manoah, Martinez and Barrera for Soto, sign a bottom of the rotation starter and start planning the parade.
Springer
Bichette
Guerrero
Ohtani
Soto
Schneider
Kirk/Jansen
Varsho
Biggio
Gausman
Berrios
Bassitt
Kikuchi
FA signing
for one year of Soto? passI'd also trade Bo for Soto if we could get Kim back in the deal as well, he has played some SS but mostly 2B.

The Padres asked for Dominguez or Volpe. Don't think the Yankees ever considered it or Soto would be a Yankee right now lolOhtani isn’t happening.
The question is, what offer can the Jays make the Padres to beat the Yankees and acquire Soto?
Tidemann?
Manoah+?
Schneider + ?
Roden ++?
Martinez + Barriea + would be my preferred starting point from my end but I think they will want Ricky, Manoah or some ready to go players like Schneider, Kirk or Varsho.
It’s going to be painful.
I’ve heard Dominguez and Volpe floated around in Yankees rumours.
It likely won't though. He's still looking at $500+ million dollar contract. He's going to be paid accordingly. Baseball hasn't seen a player like this since Ruth, and he's easily worth the gamble that he'll be an elite pitcher post TJ surgery. That's going to hurt some of his value
