Phil, you're a legend.

I've also been tracking the lines and seen them move towards the Jays today but couldn't figure what to attribute that to given a no-news day. That explains it.

Yep alot of money coming in on the Jays

Jays now at -115

Not to indulge on conspiracy, but it would make sense for Ohtani to fly into Toronto if he was about to sign and have the introductory press conference as well as meeting everyone in the org one on one on the ownership side.

I wonder what it would take to pry Jo Adell out of LA? BTV doesn't give him a lot of value, and the eye test says that they have 4 better outfielders.

With his prodigious power, even as an average hitter, he would fix some of the sequencing issues of the Jays lineup. That being said, if a team could ever fix him as a hitter, you'd be looking at a Joey Bats kind of situation.

I cant take credit, just passing on information i saw elsewhere.

I speculated Ohtani could be coming to take a tour of Toronto and the Rogers Centre. But my friend has a buddy working on the Rogers centre reno and he is still scheduled to work today and tomorrow (as per usual).

But Sunday? Maybe a quick tour on Sunday before a Monday presser?

I don't think a tour of the Rogers Centre makes sense.

That's one thing that Toronto likely did that no one else did. He's seen every team's park, so pushing the thing he's seen isn't as good as pushing the hidden jewel.

Some pointed out that the Jays reno is very similar to Ohtani's home park in Japan.

A five-story building dubbed "Tower 11" for the number that both Yu Darvish and Shohei Ohtani wore during their tenures with the Fighters stands beyond the left field stands.[24] The facility includes seating, a bar, an onsen hot spring sauna from which you can look out onto the field, and a hotel open year-round including on non-game days.[25] While the Eagles' Rakuten Seimei Park Miyagi in Sendai features lodging accommodations onsite, Es Con Field's hotel is the first ballpark in Japan to have rooms that overlook the field, similar to the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada.[26][25] It has twelve rooms capable of accommodating a total of 54 people[25] Behind center the center and right field stands is a brewpub and a children's playground, respectively.[20]

Es Con Field Hokkaido:
Dimensions:

Left field – 97 m (318 ft)
Center field – 121 m (397 ft)
Right field – 99 m (325 ft)

Left field – 100 m (328 ft)
Center field – 120 m (400 ft)
Right field – 100 m (328 ft)

If we find out the Jays renos were made with this in mind then that would be remarkable. Both are turf and have retractable roofs.

Japanese Shohei fan on reddit says if we do indeed sign him it's because of our pitching mound.

Apparently after the game he spoke highly of it and its apparently the best in MLB.

Would be absolutely hilarious if this was actually the deciding factor

You can see in this post game video where he walks over to the mound.

On a completely different note, I still wonder if the Jays will keep Manoah or move on.

He has every right to be pissed off that he has to make this year's team, but he's in that position because of how he pitched. If he takes that to heart, he could be closer to the guy that was with the Jays before last year.

If management does move him, I'd hope that they can get good value. I'd still take him over Glasnow, if I had the option between the two (better age, contract).

If we land Ohtani I see no reason why we wouldn't hold onto him and rebuild him back up (try). We definitely need as much pitching as we can especially pre arb.

He has every right to be pissed...... With himself.

Shed some fat get in shape and pitch better.

It’s getting ridiculous how many times these insiders can report the same news hundreds of times
And even more ridiculous how bipolar we are with going from depression over plan C and D (me included) to over reacting like we got him.
