Annoyance, sure, I can imagine we are up there. Inferiority? Nah. Way too many across the league for that.
Most Canadian franchises not name the Canadiens have a MASSIVE inferority complex towards us. I don't think the Leafs have an inferiority complex. The fans have a "grass is greener" complex, though.

San Diego unfortunately looks like they're going to meet the fate of many Yankees trade partners by ending up with very little in value. I'm putting together a chart of players the Yankees have traded for over the last 10 years and how much WAR they produced for New York compared to the prospects they were traded for. It's a pretty one-sided tally in the majority of those trades, but teams keep falling for the Yankee hype machine.

I was looking at the money and say Ohtani gets $60M a year for 10 years ago. A lot of people will say that is too much.

Well i looked at what the numbers were 10 year ago.

2013 Luxury Tax: $173M
2013 Highest paid Player: $29M (Alex Rodriguez)
A-Rod took up 17% of the first LT number.

2023 Luxury Tax: $233M
2013 Highest paid Player: $43M (Justin Verlander and Max Schrezer)
Verlander and Max are taking up 18% of the first LT number.

From 2013 to 2023, the Luxury tax grew by 34% and the highest paid player grew 48%.

In 10 years (2033), if the numbers grow by the same percentage then the Luxury Tax could be at $312M and the highest paid player could be $64M. At $60M, Ohtani would theoretically take up 19% of the first LT number.

Based on previous years and the value after 10 years, Ohtani at $60M is well worth the market value especially considering what he brings to the table. It could be seen as an underpayment if returns as a top pitcher.

Doesn't he want to be a starter though? Would u give him that opportunity?
I’d give him the opportunity. It’s a win win. If he’s any good, great we have a good 5th starter. If he sucks, he goes back to the bullpen. Shit I’d give him an option after the first year, because if he’s any good as a starter he can go back to FA next year and go for a big payday somewhere.

I will say it's been exciting regardless of the outcome. I am also a Dodgers fan (sorry  grew up there so I have a soft spot for them :P ) but I want him to come to Toronto more

Gr. 3 teacher took us to a Dodgers and Angels (Anaheim) for a field trip, called We'd Win in the 9th, we did. Got introed to sports and baseball from that so always have a soft spot for them

I started my sports fan journey watching the TiCats narrowly lose the Grey Cup. Not long after I saw the Jays win back to back World Series and the Leafs go to back to back conference finals.
I thought my sports fandom was great Loving the Leafs, Jays, and Ticats. My teams get close or win almost every year. How could this go wrong…..

Oh foolish young Cyris, you have a lifetime of pain coming. Thanks Dad for getting me into those teams.
