What is up Washington Capitals fans! The Official Caps Chirp Podcast on The Hockey Podcast Network is back with another incredible Monday episode as usual.

The Washington Capitals earned points in every game this week but took a shootout L against a the wild who are currently a top team in the West. In any case, the Capitals did make ground on a great week and end the week atop the Eastern Conference, leading the Leafs by 1 point. More importantly they lead the Metropolitan Division by 4. Carolina has caught up with New Jersey and the Caps are currently outpacing the entire division. What a time to be alive!

Beyond the NHL we'll also talk about the IIHF World Junior Championship where the United States took gold! Love to see that. There were a ton of Washington Capitals prospects in this tournament and most of them did very well. Leonard, Hutson, and Mateiko all had a great tournament finishing up top in scoring.

The Caps sit a-top the league in points and have a 5 point lead on New Jersey in the Metro. Things are looking very good as far as playoff chances and beyond for the Washington Capitals.

This last week the team played 3 Overtime games with mixed results and the buzz is all about the Washington Capitals slowdown in offense. Despite this apparent slowdown, the Capitals are still steadily gaining points and finding ways to win.
