I suppose you're right but it stuns me that anyone could consider a multi-year deal after the last few games. I'm not even definitely opposed to bringing him back as the starter, but there can be no commitment to the guy.
But there we go. Desperate orgs do desperate things.
Is the org desperate or is Tomlin, who is the de facto GM, desperate?
He is a coach with a massive ego, a FrankenTomlin created by AR2 and the media that’s never had to face accountability for his epic failures.
The media to a degree is finally starting to catch on that Tomlin is a fraud or at least admitting his act has grown stale in Pgh.
Now every January he’s finding himself having to defend why his historical ineptness continues, Groundhogs Day style.
He’s going to make desperate decisions that hurt the long term viability of this franchise just to satisfy his own ego and prove he can win a playoff game - finally.
He has no interest in rebuilding this team properly, in fact I’d argue vehemently he has no clue how to build a true contender from the ground up.
He won his SB on the backs of Dan Rooney, Cowher and Lebeau.
He’s Barry Switzer, that got lucky enough to be hired by the Steelers.
This isn’t a man that will make sound decisions in the best interests of this team’s future.
