OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Ploff wins?!? Fire Tomlin

Why are people so invested in tearing him down?
He’s a world class talent that gets in his own way because he acts like an idiot. If more people didn’t coddle him and “tore him down,” maybe he wouldn’t be so immature.

Tomlin went out of his way several times in pressers to dive on grenades or throw other guys under the bus for Pickens. All that does is reenforce to him that he doesn’t need to change and the problem will grow worse next year. Wait and see.

AJ brown literally was reading a book today on the sideline because he was not getting targeted in a playoff game

The other possibility that we shouldn't really discount is Rodgers. That would be even worse than Wilson but if it's not Wilson, I'd guess Rodgers is the most likely guy to be here next year.
Rodgers on vet minimum brings Adams with him

The only enticing aspect of Rogers is that he is one of the few players with the attitude and ego to throw Tomlin under the bus when things inevitably go bad.

This is accomplished by insinuating he doesn’t understand the meaning of the word “optimistic” on a message board?

And run routes when he's not the first read and catch passes thrown to him and...
He did pretty good in the playoffs running his routes when he was not the 1st read but he should not be a decoy. We need to let him use cheat and exit motion like Bucks with Evans

I suppose you win this round, then. I can’t think of a funnier joke than someone getting their panties in a bunch because people make fun of a professional football player for having the temperament of a child.
That’s the funniest joke you can think of?

But really, my bad for taking this discussion off-topic. By way of apology, let me try to bring my comments back on-topic.

I came in in response to a poster who implies that defending a player was absurd. And what I have learned is that what is not at all absurd is a group of people, mostly pessimistic about the team’s future, not only don’t seem to agree with a player who shared that opinion but instead are tearing him down and making jokes at his expense.

GP can read War and Peace next year for all I care if he stops taking dumb penalties and trying to fight people.

If GP were as good as AJ Brown, he could read that same book.
But he's not.

If they do they deserve to be in purgatory. Let him shop around and decide to match if you must

It is official. 3/3 ownership groups in this city aren't aspiring to a championship for their teams; if they happen to luck into one it's a "nice to have."

When a guy like Tua is going to take up as much of your cap as Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, that’s a big problem for the team paying Tua.

a) As I said, those contracts are structured in a way where by and large, they're only getting to do that if they turn out to be as good as them (Tua's is the least so but even so, there's some easy outs before he gets most of his money)

b) Don't ignore the fact that cap inflation means pay inflation. The Lawrence/Tua/Love cohort were, iirc, 10th in terms of QB pay by percentage of cap at signing. Jackson's deal would be 59m as a cap percentage if signed last off-season. Allen would be 64m.

c) Most importantly, it's a far lesser problem than not having a guy like Tua at all. So what you gonna do? Go to war with one of the very few people on the planet who can be a consistently acceptable NFL QB and might just be that guy at the right time?

Also, while supporting handing out large sums of money to genuinely promising young QBs, if they give Wilson the Mayfield deal I propose we riot.

Its overpay for play
Don’t tell Tomlin Arizona isn’t happy with Murray cause Tomlin might learn call of duty
