We're not even 10 games in, Jaffy. Haven't you learned your lesson from previous years? They could still very much end-up bottom 5.
They could, i just think it’s unlikely.

We set records last year in man games lost and fought tooth and nail to finish 5th from the bottom.

With hands on deck, there’s no way we finish bottom 5….you’re looking at a 8-11 pick.

But the hands aren't on deck, Dach is out for the season.

you should learn hockey and notice that Caufield does nothing to create space, create plays and take away pucks. You're speaking to a guy that has played in the AHL for 8 years. So you take a guy like Caufield with 40 goals in a season before a complete player like Cozens with 80 pts? So because our little Caufield is in front of Hughes in that stats hes a better player? ok bud you dont understand the point, cya

This post suggests you don't actually watch Caulfield play.

Yes he does.

Appeal to authority doesn't work when you've clearly been shown to be a fraud, Mister "Caufield is only good to score on the PP and 3vs3", Mr "Caufield does nothing at 5vs5".

How can you even know or be trusted to know what Caufield does to create plays or steal pucks when you're not even capable of differentiating between Caufield scoring at 5vs5 versus scoring on the PP? I mean, he scored well over 70% of his goals at 5vs5 and is top 5 in 5vs5 goals per 60, but according to you, he scores on the PP and 3vs3 only.

Neither did some guy named Luc Robitaille….

Caufield’s a sniper with an elite shot, that’s the role he fills on the roster - he’s not there to kill penalties, provide physicality or fulfill other defensive situational roles

you really compare the best LW of all time to a 5'9 goal scorer? damn i love these forums
Caufield has been an elite scorer at every level - not good…. Elite. No reason to believe he won’t be an avg 35G+ player at NHL

BTW - “the best LW of all time” was a frail 9th round pick who Serge Savard said couldn’t skate to be an NHL player. Robitaille was never a good skater, possessed no physicality, nor hard shot… just effective

Yes because that's how long rebuilds take, and that's the short end of it.
well most seem to think this team is on the up but when you botch a 1st overall and then draft a defencemen with 2 injuries to his legs early in his career the momentum will die very quickly and the time to be better wont be by design but rather failling into success like the oilers over a 10 year period. This with alreasdy starting with caufield suzuki ghule, its looking like a real possibility of becoming just another average team

This seems needlessly negative.

At the moment yes, its hard to see how the talent in this organization and the past draft record of this team going forward will put more than an average product on the ice. instead of the lightning, avalanche, penguins, washington, we will become a lesser version of the hurricanes

Can’t blame people for being down right now. We’re entering year 3 of this rebuild in a very unsure place. One of the entertaining aspects of a rebuild is watching your young guys grow and injuries has completely destroyed that. Caufield, Slafkovsky, Guhle missing half a year, Dach missing 22 games last year and all of this year, Reinbacher getting hurt just a couple games in after being sent to Europe, and the list goes on. It’s hard to stay optimistic when you can’t visually see any real growth in what’s suppose to be your future core.

I thought last season, even if we finished bottom 5, was a nice season since the young core(Dach,CC Guhle,Xhekaj) all showed some very nice progression. This year so far its the opposite, Slaf is invisible most games, Newhook shows a lot of limitations with his passing/vision, wonder if he can be more than a 3rd liner. Allen and the Monahan line are the bright spot so far, might be good for their trade value, but you don’t want to see them being the better player most nights when your on a rebuild.

Year 3?

Did I miss a 1.5yrs lol

Gorton was hired in late Nov 2021 (not quite 2yrs ago)

Hughes was hired in mid Jan 2022

MSL in mid February 2022

Not sure how you figure that we are in or entering "year 3" of the rebuild when none of the current leadership has been in place for 2 yrs yet :dunno:

22, 23, 24. We’re currently in year 3. 22 still counts because we bottomed out for a first overall and sold most of our assets that year. When the coach was hired is irrelevant.

That's ridiculous math

The president was hired less than 2yrs ago, that's pretty relevant one would think
Yes, this is clearly the third year of the rebuild.
Clearly not lol

At best one could try to say that Nov 29th is the start of the third year of the rebuild... Which would still be nonsense considering how hockey operations work.

You guys are hilarious
