Yeah if I’m Newhook I’m shooting it into my own net so I can have a better winger than Gallagher.

I mean even the Oilers are sitting McDavid when he can win the Art Ross and the division is still up for grabs. Management should give a couple of players the day off. NBA teams do it all the time. It’s forward thinking.
I'd honestly do the same thing if I was Newhook his line mates are brutal

Damn, so apparently there is already a playoff elimination scenario for Detroit for tonight. The 2 games against them might be absolutely meaningless.

Detroit will be eliminated tonight, if:

✔ NYI earns a point against NYR
TBD: Detroit regulation loss vs Toronto
✔ Philadelphia regulation win vs NJD
TBD: Washington regulation win vs TBL

Detroit will beat TO

Keys to the game:
  1. activate and start Wideman and rest Matheson
  2. Have Suzuki and Savard switch positions
  3. See if Hutson can play wing
  4. Kovacevic in nets
  5. More bigger
Did I miss any?
Suzuki has his iron man streak, you’re not sitting him. Slaf going for 50 points. Cole getting hot, he wants to stay in.

But Matheson? He’s not playing for a contract. He’s hit 60 points. Just tell him to take the night off. Heck the next 3 nights with Hutson coming in.

The whole tank season could essentially come down to losing in regulation tonight... Its so crucial to gain No points tonight.

that said I'm sure the boys will be fired up and ready to go. top line firing on all cylinders.. and our plugs will no doubt show up at the most inopportune time ... our only hope, is for our goaltending to crap the bed...

So, its time to pray to who ever you all pray to or make your sacrifices and do your little losing dances... we f***ing need this loss!

Newhook sitting in the locker room thinking: should I committ career suicide so we can get the 5th draft spot instead of 7th?

How?

The worst they can be after tonight is 3 points away from a playoffs spot so with 2 games remaining it would still be possible. But that require a win by the pens and a regulation loss by Detroit and Detroit is currently winning 4-1.

We'll be 7th. The self-sabotage is real.

Primeau is looking sharp I don't have a good feeling about this one.

I'm a tanker through and through. But I do have a good feeling going into next year about:

- the first line
- Matheson
- a send line anchored by Dach
- Guhle, Savard, Srtuble, Xheksaj, Harris.
- Monty and Primes

Then we'll see about young players Barron and Roy.
And we'll see about vets like Armia, Dco, Anderson and Gally.

Because Capitals and Flyers play each other on Tuesday.

IF Detroit loses tonight, the maximum amount of points they can get with 2 wins over Montreal is 89 pts.

NYI with one point today are now at 90.
Philadelphia who achieved a regulation win over NJD are at 87 pts.
If Washington beats TB tonight they get to 87 pts.

Both Philadelphia and Washington lead Detroit in RW, which means Detroit loses the tie breaker against both. They're eliminated tonight because one of Philadelphia or Washington is getting 2 pts on Tuesday to get to that 89 pt threshold.

None can clinch tonight because Pittsburgh is also in the race.

As it is, Detroit is leading Toronto 4-1 midway through 2nd.
