Lay of the land, with both Salt Lake and CGY winning last night.

Wow .. Anaheim, Chicago and San Jose are all so so bad.

So this is the lay of the land:

IF we lose to Ottawa tonight

Ottawa goes up 3 pts and any combination of a loss of a point or a gain of a point by the Habs/Sens in the final 2 games would make it impossible for the Habs to pass them.

We would no longer be able to pass Calgary.

Then we would want Arizona to beat Calgary the following night. That would make it impossible for us to pass Arizona.

So losing tonight is so vastly important.

We’ve never needed Jake Allen so badly.

There are also other games that will have an influence on our final two.
A Detroit loss to Toronto coupled with a Penguins win against Boston could kill Detroit's chances and their spirit.
I could easily see Boston dogging it. First over all in the east is no great prize at this point.

I'm going to work when MTL will play, but sometimes I will see the score. I really hope that Habs will lose this one in regulation. Most important game of the year, for sure!

Agreed. So we know they are going to win.

He's been out all week. It's not like it's out of nowhere.

This game is big but we still have some wiggle room even with a win. Ideally if we do win it's in OT so the Sens get a point.
They know what they’re doing. If we did, Matheson would have a “virus” tonight. But no, this is Marty’s Cup.

I want the Habs to end the year on a good note by possibly eliminating Detroit in the last game of the season. If Detroit still has a chance to win and get in for those last 2 games, it will give the boys at least 2 playoff like games to end the year.

I don't want to watch these last 2 games hoping for losses so with that scenario in mind, losing tonight is so freaking important.

I'm gonna be so f***ing mad if professional players and coaches don't decide to willingly lose a game to have better odds at getting a player that will take one of their spots on the team.
Yeah if I’m Newhook I’m shooting it into my own net so I can have a better winger than Gallagher.

I mean even the Oilers are sitting McDavid when he can win the Art Ross and the division is still up for grabs. Management should give a couple of players the day off. NBA teams do it all the time. It’s forward thinking.
